The objection to Congress’s subpoena power is in complete bad faith. A similar objection raised over the same privilege asserted to keep McGahn from testifying (in a non impeachment matter) has always been flatly rejected in federal court. In an impeachment context, there is literally no legitimate basis to think Trump doesn’t have to comply under the law.
It certainly is an issue here.
If you feel there is no ambiguity here and Congress has absolute power under the banner of impeachment, then I'm not going to convince you otherwise.
Congress certainly feels that way and they can use their constitutional powers to rectify the situation.

What is the issue? How were the subpoenas illegally improper?
Re: Why no Trump impeachment thread on Paw-Litics???
This whole mess has been an issue. If the government can spy on its’ own and spy on a president or get congressmen’s phone records without proper execution, what is stopping them from doing the same to us peons and leaving no recourse for citizens. I’m concerned about the illegality of lots of this from probably March 2016 forward.

If they are unwilling to allow witnesses at the trial, they will be breaching their oath of office and therefore the Constitution.
Starting to become a new trend for the Republican Party. All to protect one very immoral man.
You have Senators running for President who should recuse themselves from the trial don't you think? It would be using their office for their own political gain if they voted on Trump would it not?
Re: Why no Trump impeachment thread on Paw-Litics???
Just heard tonight that no senator has ever voted to convict a president of their party in an impeachment trial.
That’s not surprising, but it should remind us that these things have always been partisan.

Johnson was a democrat. All nine democrats voted not guilty for the three articles.
Clinton was a democrat. All 45 democrats voted not guilty for the two articles.
Johnson was saved by some republicans voting not guilty. The threshold for conviction was 36; and all votes were 35-19.
Clinton was never going to be convicted. Needed 67, got 45 and 50 (all republicans), respectively.
I think what those and this one is showing is that there needs to real wrong-doing and harm, not something that's up to interpretation. Some people will rally-around-the-flag no matter what, so its a matter of targeting everyone not like that. Despite whatever tribal airs some put on, there are millions more of the later than there are of the former.

If they don’t feel like they can swear to the required oath.

Are we talking about FISA court warrants again or still subpoenas?
Re: Why no Trump impeachment thread on Paw-Litics???
Two star witnesses against the Bidens found murdered in Ukraine. Joseph Conrad and Wladimir Klitschko were pulled from a river, their hands were bound and each was shot in the head. I guess the Klinton Killing Machine is trying to help their fellow criminals avoid prosecution. It was ruled a suicide...yes, it was. :icon_roll:

Just remember that the FISA secret court process has always enjoyed then support of Republicans and even Trump signed the 6 year extension of Section 702 in 2018 (over Democrats objection).

Even conservative members on this board were outspoken supporters over it (even when I pointed out its potential to be abused) during W’s administration. Tylertechsas seems to have started to change his mind under Obama.

I really hope you have someone checking in on you regularly.
A very famous and long deceased writer) and a very popular Ukrainian boxer were found tied together?
Really? You thought that was a real article?

All if it. It is all partisan, up for interpretation, and subject to easy misdirection. I lost trust in the government a long time ago. None of this helps.

Well, a subpoena isn’t spying. It is a document executed by one of authority requiring that you show up and testify or bring documents. It isn’t done without you knowing.

Just because a fellow happens to be a boxer by profession means he couldn't have info on the Bidens' dirty dealings? Are you always this condescending toward professional athletes?

The "Deep State" of the corrupt FBI/CIA/Hillary/Biden, and yes it will reach to Obama, has now been proven of spying on Trump and his campaign. Period.
