Southland only had so many conference tournaments to hand out to entice schools to stay, huh?

In 2010, Texas's launch of the Longhorn Network prompted Nebraska to announce it was leaving the Big12, thus setting in motion the previous round of realignment -- a series of events that led to the end of both the Big East and the WAC as football conferences. IIRC, Incarnate Word's move from D2 to FCS was the final domino to fall in that process.
Maybe this announcement from UIW will wrap things up again this time.

They have done well on the FCS level, but it is going to take a while for them to become a name that people follow. I hope we are working on a way to have a home and home with Southern Miss. This still could be a good rivalry game...
100% correct Champ! SHSU viewed as nothing over here in Texas. Even Texas State would have been better.

Yes at least those 4.

Because Tulane has been historically snotty like that.and when they do finally schedule it’s on a rare upswing year for them.

UT is such a screwup university. They’re like a spoiled young “trust fund” kid. Gag me!!

Did you bump an active thread? By quoting your comment from 1 minute earlier? I. . . I don't know what to do with that. It was literally still among the most recent 2-3 posts on the site.

Go to the "full site" instead of the mobile option.

SHSU is in an area where the A&M and UT cults are overwhelming. The Baylor and LSU fandom in the area is quit strong too. UofH only has their recent basketball success to tout. Regardless, I think SHSU is a good addition. They have a winning baseball program in the last 10+ years which helps fill the void of losing Rice baseball (Rice BB wasn't what it once was either). SHSU football and basketball are good programs too. I think there is overall more upside with SHSU in the conference than there was with Rice or UNT. UNT has good basketball. UNT football is blah. No baseball at UNT.

I'm watching Liberty's media conference regarding their invitation to CUSA. They are going to kick the crap out of us. LOL

Paying fees, or foregoing revenues, to jump from one bottom feeder conference to another is a waste of money IMO. I'd rather pay to replace our coach with one that EXPECTS to win every game and instills the same in our players (much like Liberty has done since starting their program) is the way to go.
Are Southern Miss and Marshall really any better off by being in the Sunbelt?

May also be worth mentioning that they're currently the undefeated #1 ranked FCS team.
