During the primaries candidates will attack each other. This is true in both parties. So, Trump going after DeSantis, and DeSantis going after Trump, should come as no surprise. However, according to the Reagan Doctrine there is a line that should not be crossed, and yes, Trump is known for crossing it. But then...and I cannot believe this point has to be made again(for the zillionth time!) TRUMP IS NOT A POLITICIAN. And, he has never said he was one, doesn't want to be one, and thus how he conducts himself is totally outside of the norms, and thank God for that! All the norms have gotten us is either dastardly commies or brain-dead Swampers, like Bush, and wannabes like Dole, McCain, and Romney.
The verdict is still out on DeSantis. I like him, and if the GOP nominee, I will vote for him. But, I fear he is likely to fall into the trap and get bogged down in the Swamp of DC politics. Now, maybe he won't get totally sucked in, there is that hope. I just think to be successful in national politics i.e. to win a national election requires "getting on a team." There are just two choices of teams right now 1) evil commies (the Dems), and 2) Swampers (GOP). Then, there is Trump, who is so arrogant, successful, and independent that he is his own team. And that fact alone makes Trump the choice of true American patriots.
