That's why I think he will keep him again. He values the consistency of the program and thinks it will improve as Baker and the talent improves.

Do all the haters think Baker is a good coach just not DC material?
No one knows, we just see the product. He seems to be a very good recruiter and a great guy. I would love to have an off the record conversation with him about what the pass defense problem has been.... Problems with TEs last year and with great QBs this year, for the most part. I like how he values stopping the run first... we have been solid against the run.
And, why would any team bother trying to run when they've seen our pass defense on film. Did do a credible job against AR though. I'm still perplexed as to how we held them to 21 points.
For the most part, we were just as physical as the Hogs. We seemed to have regressed by the end of the year for some reason.
Not all teams are capable of passing well. Some teams, like Arkansas, Bama, LSU, UTEp, Rice, ULL, .... prefer to run the ball. We do much better against those kind of teams than we do Tx Tech, WKU, MT, USM...
I agree, we didn't stop USM or WKU's run in the last 2 games. WKU may have been due to missing a couple LBs though...maybe.
like the anti-Higgins thread ( worst thread of 2016) its time for this thread to die. spread offense leads to hi scoring games. We scored over 45 pts in 5 games 50 points in 3 and 60 in 2. 10 games that this thread would want defensive coach fired. We gave up about 32 points a game . averaged about 45. I best defensive game was Arkansas-21. Guess what, we played ball control and scored 20 points. This D might have looked a hell of a lot better if we played boring ball control d. run 30 seconds off clock and snap ball. NOW this is my opinion-- before you slam the defense you need to decide what type offense you want. You cant have it both ways ... again--10 teams had worse defense than us .... ?? fire those coaches.. Cal is going that way, they gave up on Dykes offense ( and him looking at every other job available) and hired a defensive coach
So beating Navy - Illinois and CBS ranks our bowl #3 this year. We are doing tremendous job in a stressed financial enviorment -- You do know we were 7 for 7 from 2015 team finding an NFL team? CUSA did extremely well in bowl games . Why post if you have ZERO understanding how far this program has eveolve. 27 wins in 3 years- 3 bowl wins guys making NFL teams -- new stadium improvements like crazy. Unlike you I am happy and increasing my LTAC contribution every year. Buying extra season ticket for football--baseball and basketball .. and sending $ for academics ( plus a granddaughter tuition). Your attempt at sarcasm basically shows your excuse for ridiculing our program.... 50 years of being a Tech fan/supporter and loving what we are doing !!
The WKU's scores this year disputes your argument. On common opponents, they held their opponents to less. It was the quality of their DC that kept the scores against the bad teams low, while for us they were high. If we are a good team, we should keep the scores of the bad teams below 24 or below. And WKU did have pretty much the same type of offense as us.
