Louisiana Tech historically does not play FCS schools very well. Been watching these Dawgs a LONG LONG time, and we rarely do what is "expected" of us.
Me too. I've seen us lay an egg so many times against teams we were supposed to beat. I'll be glad to walk away with a win. I would love for this to be over by halftime, but I'm not counting on it.

Not sure about other fans, I think Joe Aillet Stadium is a better facility than Independence Stadium. Plus, the environment is much nicer in Ruston. Beautiful college campus vs poverty stricken area.

Re: Someone Has Finally Listened - Southern Univeristy Coming to Ruston in 2015
I'm sure there will be a reminder of last year's NSU game hung all around the athletic complex for at least the week prior to the game. As gut wrenching as that was, maybe it was the catalyst needed for us to actually bring our A game EVERY week, and not treat the yearly FCS game as a tune-up.

I don't think you'll find many here who disagree with the statement "Indy is a completely dump". Plus, we have a brand spankin' new SEZ facility to show off for the season opener.

I don't hold Shreveport or Independence Stadium in the same disdain as many other posters here. But I still think it only should be a once in while thing against a P5 program.
Baylor, Cal, TAMU (twice), Miami & OkieSt were all great at Indy. Tulsa & UTEP, not so much ...

This is true especially if you want your entire student body there to support the team. A good number can travel to a "neutral" site but not near as many as can just walk across campus.

I am far from your average fan, Tech football runs in my blood as I am a former bulldog. Trust me my man, I know my X's and O's better than you do. No disrespect to your team, I'm just being honest. If you think this game will be close then I really feel bad for you and the jag fans. That will be one long ride back to BR.

By the time the gridiron date is over, you will know everything you need to know about SU, and we will know the same about you. Believe it or not, not a lot is known about LA Tech at SU or in Baton Rouge, generally. Some fans, for example, didn't know that Tech was a FBS school. But they know now! Dr.Ray Belton, President of the Southern University System & Chancellor of the Baton Rouge campus, Dr. William Broussard, Athletics Director, and Mr. Dawson Odums, Head Football Coach, will lead a contingent of thousands onto the Louisiana Tech campus as early as Friday, September 4, 2015. You need to be prepared for an onslaught of die-hard visitors. Please be prepared!
Damn. This guy Earle should run for Governor. I would vote for him if I lived in Louisiana.

No offense but why should the average Southern Fan know much about LaTech?
1) Most live in Baton Rouge or the local area where LSU/SU/Saints are king
2) There's no radio broadcasting of LaTech games
3) There's hardly if any ever tv broadcasting of your games
4) They spend their time either watching their team or LSU when not participating at the games.

No you're not. Your parent network is ASN that as I recall started here in Baton Rouge ( don't remember if they are still here or not)
Their main focus is regional broadcasting which will never be shown here because of contractual obligations CST has with LSU/SU.

ASN is not our "parent network." Our primary TV contract is with Fox with secondary ties to CBS. ASN can pick up any games not picked up by the others.

If an SU person doesn't know about Louisiana Tech, they are completely ignorant when it comes to college football. Tech, as an FBS program, has been very successful. Do they know Southern Miss, SMU, etc... or do they only know programs within their FCS conference and within an hour of B.R.?

I don't doubt those four points at all. Baton Rouge is a weird, insular, myopic place. My experience with BR has always been, the people there think nothing else exists outside of it...and anything north of Alexandria is a foreign country to them.

Well when you live in the states Capital and have two of the largest colleges in the state within 15 miles of each other. With two of the largest and best fan base, It could foster that perception.
Personally I think it has more to do with people supporting their local community. It'll be hard for you to convince me it's any different in Ruston.
If it is, than that may be the problem to your lack of fans support or at least to the level you would like to see it at.

I could argue that one either way. It didn't really NEED to be in Shreveport, but it was a special occasion and didn't seem to hurt.
I could (reluctantly) make the same case for Grambling.

Just bc Southern fans aren't watching Tech on TV doesn't mean Tech games aren't televised.
And I agree with Terence, this game will resemble the ULL game last year. A lot to a little.

Okay I see that for some it isn't possible to have a discussion without getting in their feelings.
It was never said that the games weren't televised. Just that they were RARELY televised.
Simply put Baton Rouge is SEC/SWAC country, which isn't something to get all huffy about.
I would imagine that Ruston is C-USA/SEC country. It only make sense that people support their own.
Any expectations of anything more just isn't base on reality.

Not sure I would root for SU over Grambling. Coach Robinson had a great relationship with Coach AL Williams, I know that much. And, I've bought much alcohol in Grambling.
Yeah well they can use all the help they can get when it comes to us.

Really? Hell anybody can Google that.
I know that LaTech is in Ruston, la., but I have absolutely no clue as to how to get to the campus or what area of the campus the stadium sets.

If you think you might get lost in Ruston, you better stay home. Lol.
You guys hang around. At least we have some football talk during the slow time.

Can't believe y'all are engaging this LaLaff fan who is pretending to be a Southern fan...
Southern = SWAC = Sucks
Even their band is over rated. Drum lines and pelvic thrusts don't make for great music.

Agree. It's not like we will witness script OHIO or anything. Lots of band members and I am sure they are good, but the band is never a reason to attend. I don't care who it is.

Simply put Baton Rouge is SEC/SWAC country, which isn't something to get all huffy about.
I would imagine that Ruston is C-USA/SEC country. It only make sense that people support their own.
Any expectations of anything more just isn't base on reality.
Ruston is CUSA country - not SEC........ I am in Texas and it is CUSA country here, as well. And, for further information, I have one of my degrees from SUNO.

This is so sad, Although you are correct . You won't see our drum major dot an eye or be brought up on charges of raping fellow band members.
If that kind of thing turns you on stay home.

1) Most live in Baton Rouge or the local area where LSU/SU/Saints are king

3) There's hardly if any ever tv broadcasting of your games
4) They spend their time either watching their team or LSU when not participating at the games.
Like I said, it's becoming very apparent that Southern fans aren't really college football fans. The more you talk, the more it becomes clear. That's okay.....it helps explain why Southern a University never moved "up" to FBS.
For the record, there's probably not a LA Tech fan in this board that doesn't know every single FBS school, because it's the most important division in college football. And yes, they will also know which schools are in the G5 and which are in the P5. I'm guessing your guys.......not so much.

You're wasting your time. It's VERY obvious that these Southern fans don't know about anything happening outside of Baton Rouge.

What's so important about it to non fbs school?
Why should we care about you one way OR the other, unless we're playing against you?
Get out your feelings like little kids and understand that your reality is just that.,.,YOUR REALITY.

You Jag fans might want to quit posting for a while and do some research. As a group, you guys are starting to sound pretty silly when it comes to college football.

You might want to take your blood pressure pills that wasn't me you were giving the vote to.
As far talking football goes. Bragging about your expertise in music, trying to convince someone that you're on TV all the time and that a city that you would have to use a microscope to find one piece of paraphernalia from LaTech is some how bulldog country.
Isn't talking football
It's call stroking your ego

Nope. The vote was for Earle. He's a lot smarter than you are. You talk in circles and obviously can't tell when a post is not directed at you even though Earle's post was obviously highlighted as the recipient.

Glad a visiting team fan is visiting our board. You do seem to want to argue when there is nothing to argue about, much like the @ Lafayette folks.
I think Southern playing Louisiana Tech is a good thing. Realistically, how many fans do you expect SU to bring?

I rather not answer. I may start an argument much like the folks @ Lafayette.
Beside there seems to be enough resident experts on pretty much every thing you need to know about us and SWAC football.
Have a fantastic day and see ya 9/5/15

Maybe you should take some advice from your boy Earle. We're just doing what he said y'all would be doing; only difference is we're "defending our turf" on this page.
IMO, you haven't crossed into ULL-fan-on-BBB territory, but you're going to have to be prepared for an onslaught of smack, questions, and a few snide remarks by coming to the opposing team's board (especially this one). If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen! ;)

Re: Someone Has Finally Listened - Southern Univeristy Coming to Ruston in 2015
Conservatively - 4k plus
Remember our "official" capacity will be closer to 28k not 30k
Our fans HAD BETTER get their tickets early cause the JAG fans will show up in force
There will not be "walk-up" tickets available for this one
They brought 6k plus every time they played at NWSt
Couple the opponent with the unveiling of the new SEZ facility and it will be a hot ticket

I've got mine. Unfortunately, where I customarily sit is GA and reserved seating is unavailable. I will have to get in the stadium early.

So, we will probably have our standard 20K-ish fans there. Stadium holds 27K now. What do we do if Southern brings 10K or more?

I work with the owner of the company that won the bid for fireworks. There's a clause in the contract that there will be no fireworks in the event of a loss. That WON'T be an issue THIS year, but peace of mind is never a bad thing.
