Love the pictures, but I'm going to have to make a run to Ruston and see what it looks like for myself.

Large college apartment complex where old trailer park used to be. I’m guessing it will be a $20 million+ investment. 3rd major housing development geared to college students currently under development.

Can’t find a website for the W. Alabama complex yet.
What about the color of the water in the lake in Hide Away Park? Is all the construction runoff going right in to the lake?
Also, I wonder if that open dirt field behind Temple church has enough slope that the runoff goes in the lake when it rains?

The Blue trim on the outside of the Joe needs to be repainted. You can see the original red in some spots.
I think it's time to replace those banners with newer designs
We need more to it than building a wall to cover up the east-side. I like what Boise is doing with their east-side (of course it works for them, we need something that would match our stadium). Imagine building out the stadium with an expanded concourse, new concessions, restroom, and any gameday operation needed facility. On our westside, the pressbox did a great job to cover up a good chunk of the underbelly.
This is Boise's rendering.

Hopefully, it will be something that the next AD would look into, don't see it on TMac list of to-do's. Having visited other college/professional venues, our concourses for both football/basketball are not great. We repaint the same old concession stands and restroom and call it a renovation.
Got rid of post game traffic jam by redoing the parking lot. I didn't think about them taking out the entire street.
I wonder if the RV parking will be moved over to the new future parking lot (old softball/soccer/intramural field). It would be a good time to run electrical hookup. If you have tickets to the DAC, it would probably be the best area to park.
Why not use Caruthers area for parking?
Is there a sign with John Bel’s name on it by the baseball construction? Is he taking credit for the natural disaster that causes this necessary project?
It says
Athletics Facilities Repairs, A new baseball stadium at JC Love Field with the below logos
TBA, Lincoln Builders, Louisiana Tech seal, and John Bell Edwards governor
Can't read the below caption at the very bottom. I don't think he's trying to take credit. He most likely doesn't know anything about the sign in Ruston, LA.

Thanks, I just heard through the grapevine and the description got twisted a few times between storytellers.
Seeing that the remaining pine will likely come down in replace for the scoreboard/berm seating (according to the mockup), the view to Memorial Gym will be really exposed. I think our wordmark would look good on the north end of the building. Back-lit signs prob would be expensive (like the TAC signage), maybe some metallic cutouts and have uplighting to light it up at night.

When we took down the old State-T from the TAC, I proposed that Memorial Gymnasium would have been the perfect place. Fixing that sign up a bit and putting a light on it like you've mentioned would have been a perfect combination given the historic nature of the building and the sign.

When is Wyly’s Erection of Learning supposed to come down?
It's needs to be renovated. When I was in school in 99-03, the inside looked very 80's. I imagine it's probably a lot worse now.
I think they've done some work on it since then. The bottom floor looks really good, when you're back on campus you should run by a take a look. On my wife's floor they've repainted and recarpeted and overall it looks pretty nice. Elevators and bathrooms need some work. Overall for as old as the building is it looks in pretty good shape, though I think a lot of things are out of code.
Exterior-wise, I think the tower could be transformed by recladding the exterior and build a new Carson Taylor that integrates a prominent ground floor entrance to Wyly Tower.
I found this image at Longwood Univ. They transformed one of their old dorms (very much looks like one of our old 60-70s style dorm buildings). It looks really nice.

I remember insurance issues being discussed. Something about Ruston not having fire fighting equipment for that many stories
I was thinking the cost of asbestos remediation turned out to be a big problem.
It has never matched the campus at all. It always seemed out of place in my opinion....
What matches anymore? The architecture of the new construction on campus these days leaves a lot to be desired if you ask me. I think some very short sighted decisions have been been made. I travel a good bit, and I make it a point to check out different college campuses. Tech's is not a pretty campus in comparison to many others, including several in our own state.

Wish there was a way to lock down the view so it didn't alternate between the projects. But it's pretty cool to watch.
Nothing happening at softball/soccer project today, but a few guys are working at the ballpark and parking lot. Kind of surprising but good to see.
Lots of steel being unloaded at the ballpark today.
And they started putting up the steel for the grand stand seats behind the visitors dugout. Beginning to think I'm the only one watching all this. But there's lot going on at the ballpark and I really enjoy cruising by to take a look.

This is from Wednesday morning.
Moved in Friday and spent all day yesterday unpacking. But today I got to cruise by and look for myself. I'll admit I'm a construction junkie. It's great to see the pictures but seeing it in person is the best!
Glad to finally be in Ruston! Can't wait for opening day!

The grandstand is taking shape. Also, noticed they are filling more dirt along the railroad track near the old softball field for the new parking lot.
On its website, Louisiana Helicam has recently posted more pics of the campus taken in recent weeks.

They need to rotate the camera on the baseball field a little to the right to take in more of the grandstand construction.

Awesome. Pretty good progress recently. I guess weather and funding are cooperating as well as one could hope.
Amazing progress for any Louisiana project.
Weather is spotty. We catch afternoon showers and some morning showers from time to time, but the workers are obviously working through it. Can't tell you about funding other than we got some pretty good seed money from FEMA.
For the second time the live feed I've bookmarked say it is no longer available. Last time I was able to find a replacement link but not this time. Anyone got a working link to the construction feed?
It looks to be offline. It doesn't appear on the Louisiana Tech Athletic - Youtube page.
New link. I think they stop the feeds on weekends.

"After careful consideration, officials decided the NEW FieldTurf DoublePlay and TripleThreat Series would be the ideal choice for J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park (Baseball) and Lady Techster Softball Complex (Softball)."
"FieldTurf’s NEW DoublePlay Series is gaining rapid popularity amongst collegiate baseball programs showcased by installations at the University of Tennessee, Rutgers University and recently the University of Southern Mississippi. FieldTurf has long been a trusted name is baseball with installations at Oregon State, Oregon, Texas, Texas Tech, Washington and over 1000 more."

Pretty sure we were dealing with Field Turf pre our current AD. They replaced the first football surface that was faulty. After taking care of us on that, they never even got to bid on the third Football surface or the baseball and softball surfaces.
