This, this, and more this.
Nothing like it in Monroe. Baton Rouge is the closest one I believe. Their red ale is extremely choice. Best mozzerella sticks I've ever had and it's not close.

Here's an update as of today: E Kentucky is 4d contractors. Logan's and Santa Fe are both still in the mix. Scott's catfish to open first two weeks of June. USDA by green clinic north. Starting on inside of grill at Karl's development. No official word on a cracker barrel. Seismic exploration beginning in Lincoln parish and rest of north central LA by 2 companies spending big bucks. Expecting to find oil, not natural gas. Bigger, but deeper than haynesville shale. Unfortunately no cost effective means to get to it yet if they find it.

I believe Santa Fe is out after having had a terrible last few quarters.

Yeah, the quote I got was that it is as much of a done deal as Santa fe and logans are. They have bought the property, but there is a third party hold up, same third party as with logans.

Yes but I think for different reasons. In the case of logans, you might say there are two third party hold ups, one because of the other. The primary one being the only solution to a sewer issue.

Don't know. They have been selling lumber and other stuff out of the building for a couple of months now. Almost looks like someone is dismantling the building and selling what they can.

The person is looking now at another restaurant...with much healthier options.

I live in West Monroe now, so I really don't have many reasons to drive to Ruston to eat. I will eat if I am over there. I will drive to eat at Raw occasionally.
I was just trying to get a sample of what type of places the people of Ruston would request. I was talking with some friends, and I know that a lot of Ruston people get frustrated with a lack of options.

Living 3 hrs away, when I do come to Ruston I stay away from chain restaurants. I can get that anywhere. The local joints are what I'm drawn to (Dowlings, Dawghouse, Ponchatoulas, etc.)

Re: Logan's Roadhouse Coming to DAWGTOWN
If someone were to open a Five Guys or In-And-Out at the old Quiznos Tech Drive location, they would make an absolute killing. Very popular with the college age crowd and that's prime real estate for students. A burrito joint would also work there.

We do, more and more. Ruston is replacing M/WM as a dining destination for those of us in the U-P. For everyone on Lake D'Arbonne and west, it's closer, and much more convenient. Ruston's restaurants are for the most part easier to "get to"...at least for us up here.
"CK4" and his buddies pretty much go there all the time now, rarely to M/WM.

I would like a local joint that serves American/Cajun fare with a nice patio and no plastic menus. Back when I was in college, I had a tough time finding a nice place to take my folks out to eat that wasn't a chain.

I like Portico okay, but the one in Monroe had a Tech helmet in the bar area until the Ruston location opened. No more Tech stuff in Monroe. FIM was NOT a happy camper.

The Ruston Portico usually has live music about 3 days a week. Portico also sponsors Tech athletics. The Ruston Portico displays a Tech helmet, a Tech Miller Lite sign, and a Tech Bud Light at the bar.

Well...that's a little disappointing to hear. Cheddar's would be a nice addition. You get big portions for very affordable prices. Do you have any idea what will replace Logan's? It seems as if it's taking an act of congress bringing in another national chain restaurant. Sante Cattleman Co said it will open this summer. I haven't seen any activity lately.

Logan's is still in play, but with what I heard this week seems even less likely than in recent months.

Re: Logan's Roadhouse Coming to DAWGTOWN
The Cheddars in Flowood MS (suburb of Jackson) is easily the busiest restaurant in the area. It is literally always packed by 4:30 and stays full past 10:00 EVERY night. I have never not had to wait at least 15 minutes, and that is with a big restaurant operating efficiently. They are just that busy. He may want to reconsider Cheddars, it seems to do really well here. Maybe their franchise fees are really high or something?

No, chedders corporate said no because there is one in Monroe and one in Shreveport. He even offered to buy the one in Shreveport because it supposedly is poorly managed. Both of those locations are corporately owned. He thought it would do very well in ruston.

Logan's? I don't like Logan's.

Re: Logan's Roadhouse Coming to DAWGTOWN
He applied for the license 4 months ago. He was wanting to beat the cracker barrel. It would have been great. But he just purchased a ruston landmark and is looking to put another restaurant on that same property...though I'm not as excited about it as I was the cheddars.

Cheddars in West Monroe --> staff poorly trained.
Peak time there are unusually long waits.
Food portions ARE big.
Pricing excellent.
Dining experience, however, lukewarm.

Been there 2 times and we had good service, but long wait for table and food. You are correct about portion and price. It is enough to take a lunch to work the next day.
