Yeah, we've been basically flat since the mid/late 80's. BUT our admission requirements have increased a lot. Our numbers haven't changed much, but we have smarter kids now...lol

Yep. Now there are only 5,000 graduating high school students in Louisiana that even meet our entrance requirements each year, and Louisiana's population has been stagnant since 1983. Louisiana just lost a US representative this year.
Re: Admissions Department
Being a selective admissions college has its drawbacks. That may be one reason we don't have a larger non alumni fan base.
Re: Admissions Department
this may have been asked already but I"m too lazy to read 4 pages to see...for these students with high ACT scores (Tech does not use SAT's last time I checked), how many of these students had their scores SENT to Tech? You get a set number of scores sent without extra charge. If they aren't listing Tech to get a copy, Tech does not necessarily know they scored high. IT'S THE STUDENT'S JOB TO SEE THAT THIS IS DONE. man-up students...only your family is aware of how wonderful you are...ya gotta show everybody else. (if this has been covered in previous posts ... never mind)

Tech pays for names of students with certain scores, class characteristics, etc. So the University should know any and all students that meet our standards for contact.
Re: Admissions Department
One sad comment about the state of HS educations in Louisiana is that the "less than 5000 will qualify at Tech" is a VERY SMALL fraction of total annual HS graduates in the state (approx. 40,000 HS graduates annually).
Re: Admissions Department
So get them elsewhere! There are 49 other states with high caliber HS grads looking for a good school!
Re: Admissions Department
Win football games and they'll beat the door down. Get far into the NCAA tournament bracket and they'll show up. That's all it takes but the administration is still blind to that apparently.

Admissions standards and LA population are excuses - See Hogdawg's comments about TX.
