This doesn't add up to "LATech's AD was caught in a lie by the AP." Here's an excerpt from the AP report:
La Tech athletic director Bruce Van De Velde told The Associated Press that Independence Bowl organizers offered a spot in their game on Saturday afternoon, but the Bulldogs had other possible options still available to them. Van De Velde said he asked the Independence Bowl for more time to make a decision, but was told by game organizers that they couldn't wait.
"Nobody turned a bowl bid down," he said. "We asked for more time to vet two other opportunities that we had that we felt good about."
What is factually inaccurate here?
Re: BleedTechBlue: Et tu, Brute?
After looking at it more objectively, Tech has invested heavily in Shreveport. The Independence Bowl got Ohio, who they would have had tonight or yesterday. Tech asked for the committee to give them more time and even withstanding the investments made in the Shreveport community they did not wait. As a result Tech is on the outside looking in and the local bowl was not there for Tech. I made a mistake. Please accept my apologies Tech nation.

This doesn't quite do it. You are suger-coating the fact that you called BVDV a liar when in fact you had no 1st-hand evidence to make such a charge. Now that Tim Fletcher (a real journalist) is actually getting the story from the source (I-Bowl committee members and Louisiana Tech administrators), your false reporting is coming to light.
This situation highlights why IT guys shouldn't pretend to be sports journalists on the weekends.

I have apologized to Bruce and he accepted my apology.

It seems that so many outlets rely on second hand and unreliable information for news sources rather than getting off their a$$ and getting the facts.
And for you Ford, just because somebody tweeteed it does not make it fact, They used to tar and feather people who spread untruths and journalist were fired for not getting it right, although I really hesitate to put many of the people reporting these days in the journalist category.
Everyone is in such a hurry to "report" that they do not bother to get the facts right and they quite often let their opinion get interjected into what is supposed to be news and not an editorial.

Exactly, the Tech alums on the I-Bowl committee should be ashamed of themselves.

A lot of us overreacted...
Myself included. Today was truly a tough day to be a Bulldog.
I deleted some tweets and comments, and encourage others to do the same. Lets offer some grace to one another...

Are you going to tell the truth as you wrote it in post #49 to the National Journalists you were tweeting to tonight?? Your tweets put Tech in a very bad light.

They are deleted. I wish I could go back, I really do.
Re: BleedTechBlue: Et tu, Brute?
He posted info, at the time, based on legit sources. Anyone in his position would have done the exact same thing.
He got correct information directly from the horses mouth and has apologized for and redacted those previous statements. I think that apology is enough.
What more do you want?
Re: BleedTechBlue: Et tu, Brute?
I agree. He apologized, let's move on.
Will our admin have the same grace?

Who are you talking to? I said what I wanted and he replied. He's a big boy. He can handle this.
