I don't see many buyers lining up to buy a hospital in Shreveport. It could probably be gotten for a reasonable price.
Whatever happen to Doctor's Hospital? It has been closed for years, has anyone bought it?

Doctor's Hospital is still boarded up and abandoned.
Do you think Willis Knighton would want the Christus Schumpert property after Schumpert closes? Another thing to consider is all the small medical practices around Christus Schumpert.
Re: Shreveport Med School may close
No one in their right mind would enter the shreveport market and go up against the Elrod machine...except maybe FMOL. lol

Probably........ They would have to do a 180 degree turn now, which would be very difficult. It is a culture issue. They can't figure out if they are Louisiana, Texas, or Arkansas and have refused to embrace an identity of their own.

From the Shreveport Times on Facebook: "Biomedical Research Foundation board members have approved a proposed contract to take over LSU Hospital. LSU supervisors will vote Tuesday."

What does that mean? Who the hell is "Biomedical Research Foundation"? Who owns it? Who are the board members? And where do they get their money for something like this?
Re: Shreveport Med School may close
Just from the name, "Biomedical Research Foundation", it looks more TECH friendly than anything with lsu on it. Isn't TECH the king pin of biomedical in La?
I think this is their web site

Here's the link to their website. I think the 2012 President of the BRF and several current BRF board members supported the Tech-LSUS merger plan last year.

From the Shreveport Times: State officials ask Willis Knighton to consider more medical school funding
Quote:
State health officials have asked Willis-Knighton Health System to help fund LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport after the school loses income from LSU Hospital.
Willis-Knighton has supported the school for 20 years through direct funding and affiliation agreements. This year the health system will contribute about $9 million, said CEO James Elrod.
On May 16, Louisiana [DHH Interim] Secretary Kathy Kliebert asked Willis-Knighton to consider providing an additional $25 million a year to the medical school during a meeting with Elrod and his management team.
