I wish Tech would hire me and give me one job: bitch daily to the C-USA TV Committee and the ASN suits to start developing our own cost-efficient digital network (then we all can set our own kickoff times. LOL).
It's 2016. It can be done as soon as we move out of 1996.
Re: Sources: Conference USA will see vastly reduced TV revenue next season
How many of you watch Youtube Live? I watch it a lot because of USBC/NCAA bowling and really fantastic home grown broadcasts done for things like BMX, USA Cycling, climbing sports - heck even the curling World Championships were live on YouTube.
I promise you I have found some of our conference teams on there broadcasting baseball games. Ironically it was either FIU/FAU. If they can do that why can't Tech? I can catch Harding or Arkansas Tech but not Louisiana Tech?
Re: Sources: Conference USA will see vastly reduced TV revenue next season
I have a feeling that we will have a plethora of C-USA games on espn3 next year. This will be good for the diehards that couldn't get ASN, but for the casual fan - not so much.

Yep, ESPN3 is fine if you have wifi access or unlimited data.

And useless for the older generations who aren't tech savvy. They just want to know what channel number to punch in on the remote to watch Tech on TV.

FIU has won 4 C-USA championships including baseball last year. That's more titles than we have. Florida Atlantic has the best RPI in C-USA baseball and softball right now, and they just beat the No. 1 baseball team in the nation last night. Florida Atlantic also created the Boca Bowl for C-USA. I think your view is a little distorted. Kicking those schools out would do nothing to increase our TV value. The drop in value is about change in the cable industry and which schools we lost, not who we added.

I'm not trying to fire shots. I'm speaking out of personal experience with my older family members. I get calls and texts all the time asking what channel Tech is playing on. If it's an ESPN3 broadcast, they won't watch because it's too complicated for them to figure out Apple TV, they aren't gonna sit at a computer to watch nor watch on an iPad or iPhone, or they don't have wifi like my great uncle. I think ESPN3 is fine for tech savvy people, but it sucks for our fans who aren't.

The ASN is far, far superior in this regard. WUPL in New Orleans picked up just about every game we were in. Having an over-the-air game that anyone can casually click through on a Saturday afternoon does more to attract the casual fan than ESPN3. Or quite possibly, the low-subscriber CBSSN.
Re: Sources: Conference USA will see vastly reduced TV revenue next season
Well at least this old timer can stream ESPN3 to his large screen TV. It's not hard. Just run a HDMI cable from your laptop/desk top to the an HDMI input on the TV and choose that input as SOURCE. I just hope the feed is good and doesn't go stop/go wonky half the time. Also I can get CBSS on UVerse and I can't get ASN.

Maybe some of you "whipper-snappers" will know as much as you think you do when you get to be a sexagenarian.

Being first and engineer who worked with FORTRAN and then other process simulation programs and then a lawyer who had to conquor a desk top I feel I'm pretty up to date on most technology ( I don't write code. I leave that for the programmers).
Exception: I do not have a smart phone. My cell phone isn't just dumb, it's stupid. You can make calls on it and send and receive texts (send with difficulty) -- no camera, no data streaming. I just haven't found the need yet.
