Academics needs the money just as much as athletics so as long as the money is going to Tech, that's what matters.
I believe I have seen we have 80,000 living alumni. Let's say 20,000 already give (I know that isn't that high probably). If T-mac and his minions got out shook every little hand of the remaining 60,000 ( even a verbal howdy over the phone ) for $100 that's a budget growth of $6 million a year. While it wouldn't move us to first in CUSA I bet an extra 6 million would put us in the middle which is moving in the right direction.
At a school like Tech we can't afford to turn off/down any money givers, he doesn't get that.

It's not that our budget hasn't grown over the past 30 years. We have a $22 million athletic budget. That's almost double from just eight years ago. We've come a long way in a short period of time. The problem is that every school is spending more money on athletics. While we're growing, so is everyone else. Our challenges are not going to change. We are located in a small, rural community. While I believe there is great support in Ruston for Tech athletics, Ruston's population is what it is. And while we can draw some fans from all along I-20 for football games, it's very, very difficult for those same fans to attend other sports. Everyone says they can do a great job marketing Louisiana Tech athletics. We all think that because we're passionate about Tech athletics and think everybody else should feel the same way. It's historically proven that it is extremely difficult to market Louisiana Tech athletics, and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon.Quote:
