That's my point. Doing so consistently would enhance our reputation as much as a single win against LSU. But we need to do it regularly. The wins against Illinois and Virginia at their house in 2012 got us ranked in the top 25. This next season (2018) season we have LSU and Miss. St. Winning just one would probably not get us ranked, but both yes.
Re: What would have greater implications for LaTech next year?
I would rather beat LSU than get ranked. Period.
Getting ranked is nothing. Beating LSU as the supposed number 2 team in the state would be HUGE for us in the state. I would say even more than winning a CUSA championship.
Re: What would have greater implications for LaTech next year?
People love to identify with a winner. How about we just go to an Access Bowl, win it, and not worry with LSU and their fans.

^^^THIS! Unlike Dawg80, Geaux Dawgs gets it. He understands the big picture, and what's important to LA Tech as opposed to what would be important to every other school.

I can't stop laughing. I can just visualize the people in Homer, or Minden, or Bastrop being told that they should be excited about LA Tech football now because Tech just won an "Access Bowl". LOL!! They would look at you and Dawg80 like you are from Mars.
On the other hand, you tell those same small town folks that LA Tech just beat LSU in Baton Rouge, and that registers. THAT makes an impression. (It's really kind of absurd for you 2 guys to argue this point, because even you guys know this is true.)
Re: What would have greater implications for LaTech next year?
So beating LSU is the most important thing we've got going? Have you lost your mind or are you drunk?!!!
The best we are 'allowed' to do is go to an Access Bowl. THAT, not LSU, is Louisiana Tech's (and all G5's) goal.

And they are saying that the term "access bowl" doesnt mean anything to your typical Louisiana fan in regards to Louisiana Tech. Beating LSU registers with the commonf folk more than the bowl.
Ideally, we beat LSU and get their attention and retain that attention until the access bowl at year's end. The bowl is at the end of the year and... that just fizzles out unless you are undefeated and make a ruckuss like UCF did.
Re: What would have greater implications for LaTech next year?
We got some dumb ass fans fo sho.
lsu is not our bar.
Re: What would have greater implications for LaTech next year?
We're coming off a 7-6 season and y'all are talking about beating LSU on our way to an access bowl?
Last season, I woulda been drinking that koolaid with yall. Hell, I was, what with the best season setup we've had in decades.
Holtz broke me of that.

Ain't it the truth.
LSU is the bar. But some of our fans are to stupid to know it. Apparently some believe that beating some P5 school in an Access Bowl will mean more to Louisianians than beating LSU.

Winning an Access would be great, especially if a good portion of the bandwagon, mouth-breathing, knuckle dragging brand of LSU fan even knew what that was, most of them understand very little about football out of the LSU circle. Most of those fans have no real appreciation of NCAA football as a whole, if it is not an LSU game they really have no interest in it and have no idea what you are talking about if you are discussing other teams. Most of these fans just want to be able to say" Boy, WE beat hell out of them this week didn't we" when they are standing around the proverbial water cooler on Monday morning.
Yes, beating LSU is more important for us simply because of the caliber fan that a great many of the LSU fans are, that is the only way they are going to notice!

Why is HD obsessed with lsu?

Because he's small-minded and is proclaiming the LSU game as our Super Bowl.
It's the EXACT same thing I hear from NSU fans. They would gladly go 1-11 as long as that one win was vs. Tech. That's the boat HD has gotten in to. Frankly, I used to think more of HD. But he's embarrassing himself, and unfortunately, some out there will use his quotes as "proof" how small-minded Tech is.
I'll say it again: LSU is a good SEC program, with all the advantages that includes, but they are just another game on our schedule. Period.
Re: What would have greater implications for LaTech next year?
This seems like a useless conversation to me. Beating lsu would be BIG, being in an access bowl would be big, going undefeated would be big.
Right now, I am just hoping we have a team that can come close to doing ANY of those things.
Want a bigger fan base and bandwagon fans? Do all of those things!
