...yes, there were options 10 years ago that were looked at...
1. I've never seen anything that clearly attributes that 5th grader art Bulldog logo as Derek Dooley's creation. Can you provide any proof of this?
2. Why do you say that dropping this non-brand identifying logo "as many of you know" would cost millions? Exactly which BB&Ber's KNOW this? Based on those people's assumption why would we have irresponsibly spent "millions" over the past 10+ years on such a truly low priority project? More importantly why wasn't at least a basic, low cost survey done on SurveyMonkey.com to gauge LA Tech fans' interest at ANY point during this timeframe? The importance of understanding market feedback is taught in freshman marketing classes.
3. What were the "other options that were looked at"? Who made the selection of this logo over the other logos presented and what was the criteria for their selection?
This has nothing to do with "resistance to change". It has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that this logo does not convey what school it belongs to. Unlike LA Tech, La Tech,... those are CLEARLY LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY logos.
A Bulldog head with just 'tech' under it is confusing and nondescript. Is it Georgia Tech, Southern Tech, Islamabad Tech,...? We need CLEAR BRAND IDENTITY and this logo does not provide that. This is irresponsible marketing from beginning to end.

What a beautiful statue! Let's hide it away where no one can see this integral part of our history.

and, surprise surprise, it looks like UGA.
Re: Puppy is infiltrating football
So we did actually pay someone for a clipart logo that does not promote Louisiana Tech and we did so with little or no customer feedback. Very disappointing.
I was going to ask if Eric Buskirk was STILL on LA Tech's athletics marketing staff. Google shows that he left for UC-Riverside in 2012 and was fired/resigned in 2014. http://projects.dailycal.org/miscond...ic-buskirk-94/

Sweater mascots are just aesthetically outdated. So are the looney toon lookin' bulldogs, those remind me of High School mascot logos.

While we are on "lack of tradition", I'm tired of the "baby" thing in the Alma Mater. It's like the red T...an unneeded change. No pride in tradition at ELLAYE Tech.

I see that Tech52 is listing himself/herself as a student in the profile so I assume anything more than two years old is outdated to him/her.

I dont prefer it, and dont participate. But I can hold my nose for things that emerged organically from students.

It is. Im no fan of any animal-with-a-sweater mascot be it a bulldog or a razorback. And overall, there is nothing special about that kind of logo, many schools did it. The only thing that bothers me about the current logo is the eye being so centered. Otherwise its a unique logo compared to Georgia or MissState or Fresno or even Butler. With the same amount of exposure anyone can tell the them apart.

My main problem with the logo is how it was changed to make it a gentler, more cuddly bulldog. I know they just removed the spikes, but it adds something IMO.

Re: Puppy is infiltrating football
Sportdawg's avatar is a better English bulldog than the current logo is, though. May or may not be better with a collar more like the current one with "Tech" on it and not just a Louisiana tag.

Tech's live mascots have by tradition been more, shall we say, "diverse" than mascots of schools further to our east.
