Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition

I fully expect C-USA to go with whatever choice that requires no backbone. They will fold to the coronabros working so hard to kill this college football season.
I hope at least a few of the P5s like the SEC will stick to going forward with there full schedules. If some conferences do and some don't (keep full schedules) then LA Tech should be eagerly seeking out where they fit a new game if we have opponents drop off our schedule or we get dropped and have unexpected openings. We can even start with ULM or ULL.

 From the Big Ten statement

By limiting competition to other Big Ten institutions, the Conference will have the greatest flexibility to adjust its own operations throughout the season and make quick decisions in real-time based on the most current evolving medical advice and the fluid nature of the pandemic.

NCAA Oversight Committees recommends allowing 2 FCS wins to count towards bowl eligibility (Will there be bowls?).
We need to call UCA or Grambling (maybe even NW State) if we lose a non-conference oponent.

I'd like to play UCA again. One of my good friends was OL on the team that scared us in 2009 (or 10?, memory is fuzzy)

We could join the SWAC or Southland conference too.

I think we need to keep our schedule open so if we need to quarantine we can still get our conference games in. I would hate to loose a conference game by forfeit because we played one of those teams.

I can understand not living up to a contract if the entire season is canceled, but for a school or conference to selectively cancel games (non conference games) seems like it would it give us legal standing to force the schools to honor their contract. It might put us in an unfavorable schedule position going forward, but something to at least consider.

Most of the SEC wants no part of 10 conference games. They don't even want 9.

I get what you're saying, but from a practical standpoint it's not an issue you can take to court and get a decision on in a reasonable time frame, let alone the legal expense involved. Plus there is scheduling risk down the road where you could affect non-conference games down the road and whether or not a P5 conference would be unwilling to deal with CUSA to have you in an open ended bowl game. It might not be right but it is what it is.

I agree with force majeure defense with 4 of the 5 Power 5 conferences, but question whether that would apply to the ACC. The ACC is allowing games with Notre Dame to be played. It has also been at least speculated that additional games would be scheduled with Notre Dame, if ND needs the games. While ND is a member of the ACC they are not a football member, they are a football independent. That may negate they use of force majeure as a defense. They still might not be required to play the games, but they might have to buy out the contract.
