I think that BHO screwed up. The comment wasn't even directed directly at him but he thought he had to "defend" himself. That means to me that they believe that they believe that their stance on this issue is wrong. From what I heard on talk radio, GWB said he was talking about Jimmy Carter. Why else would one get defensive over their stance. This issue alone will turn a lot of voters away from BHO. BTW I guess Jimmy didn't learn from the last time. Iran immediately released their hostages when Ronald Reagan took office.
If all you GOP'ers can't realize by now that the foreign policies of the USA toward the Islamic world over the last 8 years are total failures, then you are asleep at the switch. The dollar is in the toilet and the whole world is laughing at that stupid Texan who struts around in his cowboy boots thinking he is somebody.
A country is only has strong as its currency. And, frankly, ours sucks.
