"The Louisiana mark is not a map. We don't need it to find Houma, Louisiana."
On the use of the term - "La. Tech." - "Embrase it." ... "Northeast would give anything to have our name recognition."
"We bring in recruits and show them the new housing that has been built, and ask them, "Do you like this.' Here is where you stay." (shows a picture of Hut."
"We'll have a new video board. I promise you that. It won't be this year. It will be next year. It will be nice ... I promise ... and it will help with corporate sponsors."
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
OMG I LOVE DEREK DOOLEY. I thought I was going to cry I was so moved by his determination and by how much he believes in Tech. I would walk across a pit of hot coals I do believe if he asked me to.
And when you see those charts...y'all those charts. No wonder is all I can say. We can hop up and down all day long but the numbers don't lie.
Give people Give!!!!!! If we want to win, if we want better facilities we have got to GIVE. If you don't give, then don't wonder why CUSA turned their nose up at us. If I was CUSA I would have turned my nose up at us too.
70K living alumni. 70K. And last year 980 people gave money. Disgraceful. Thank the good lord I have been blessed to have the wherewithal to give to the Dawgs. I ain't no James Davison or Guthrie Jarrell you understand, but if just 10,000 alums gave 1,000 imagine what that could help do. If all 70K gave $10.00 a month think what that could do.
Derek Dooley will make a believer of the non believers. I AM a believer and he's got me ALL fired up!
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
How many people did show up? Do you think we had some converts/new faces? Was the crowd's age well spread or was it mostly older people? Did people line up to give money?

Why'd he pick on Houma?? :D
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
I was wondering if the 4 banners on the opening slide of the presentation are the artwork for the stadium banner project...
Excellent event. There were some young faces there (myself and everyone at my table included). My favorite part:
(paraphrasing) "We have an aggressive plan to achieve all of this. I am very excited about it and the public should be made aware of much of it over the next several months. 2 to 3 years from now we are all going to look back as say, wow, we did that."

Over 200, they had last minute people call and a lot of walk-ins. Ponchatoulas did a great job on the food. There went the diet for today. I LOVE bread pudding. :)
It was just awesome. Just awesome. If you missed it today, you should go to WM tomorrow if you can. You will be overcome with joy that finally - AT LAST - somebody GETS it!
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
Hog would have loved the presentation. I think he might have written the speech.
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
Monroe and West Monroe people, if you miss tomorrow's event without a good reason, you should feel stupid.
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
Event was awesome. Seating was around 250 and it was packed. Food was great, DD is the man, what can you say. Standing O led by Big Mick at the end. Hopefully those who don't give will open up the checkbooks.
The new COO was introduced.
Our #1 priority right now should be to put all scholarship student athletes into UP unless they chose to live off campus. The cost is only 120,000/year to do so. This would help us do two things he said are important, win by attracting better student athletes and upgrading housing for them. The hut was a dump when I went to Tech and had players staying in it. They are still staying there today and it is worse than ever.

After hearing DD in SBC, I get the impression that he agrees with you in that improving athlete's housing is the #1 priority. I expect that in the next two years, the athletes will live in UP.
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
It was alot of the same people you see at these ruston/ tech events however I think that this information was a wake up call for 95% of them. Lots of folks have been living in the dark....Dooleys going to make sure they see the light! I dont have much to give but im going to give more.

You are correct. I, who have known it was bad, had no idea it was THAT bad. No wonder. No wonder.

Dawgmatic, I was wondering what your opinion of coach Dooley is?
Re: Dooley to speak in Ruston and WM
Fox,
What was your overall impression of the presentation? He doesn't pull punches does he! My question is not are you and I going to give, because we already do, but how are we going to reach the 69K that aren't giving? Are we going to pick up the phone and call them? What is THAT plan?
