Whenever I hobnob with the Memphis side of the family I do put in good word for your school. My family has maintained sky box over there forever and because my cousin, who pays for the gig, has the largest real estate firm in the South, the AD at Memphis at least looks like he is intrested.

I've said it elsewhere, but the bottom line is that as bad as the new WAC is, moving to the sunbelt explicitly sends the following message: Louisiana Tech does not care at all about its athletic program.
The lifeboat we are in from the shipwrecked WAC is not taking us in the direction we want to head; but it sure as hell beats jumping into the shark-infested waters of the belch and trying to find our own way to shore.
More practically, I'd rather hear the talking heads pity the plight of the WAC since the departure of the big boys than to hear them talk about how desperate our program was, such that CUSA passed us over and we had to come crawling back to a conference we left.
And then there is the fact that the mantra of our lsu-loyal Tech alumni and students is that Tech just needs to get back to the belch where "y'all" belong. If we jet the WAC for the belch before the WAC officially implodes, THE TERRORISTS WIN.

Serious. If they leave it will save us untold amounts of travel money. As long as Boise, Fresno and Nevada were in the WAC the Hawaii travel could be tolerated as a price to pay to be in a "better" conference. Without those schools, the diminished reputation of the WAC does not justify the Hawaii travel. Even though any Hawaii replacement would be of lesser reputation than Hawaii, the reduced travel cost would more than offset any further reduction in WAC respectability.

The WAC still has a men's basketball auto-bid. If Hawai'i leaves that bid is in serious jeopardy if not gone altogether.
The Pac 10 will almost certainly not fill all of its bowl bids most years if it tries to maintain 7 bids. The Big 12 will almost certainly have to drop one of its 8 bids or it may have more than one bid it can't fill each year.

Does the new WAC fit that description? I can see big donors really digging deep because of Texas St., UTSA, Utah ST., Idaho, San Jose..........oh I cant even go on.:sick2:

if Memphis was "interested" why did we no-vote La Tech during expansion? UTEP was/is the better program...and if UCF leaves, you simply add FAU with their new stadium and keep on moving...i'd love to attend a game in Boca
