We're going to go on about our business, but they're not going to get the same help anymore -- not about a ballgame, not about conferences, not about anybody. They're getting no help from Gary Patterson, period.
"They shouldn't ask me at SMU about going into a conference, they shouldn't ask me about how they play, they shouldn't ask me about their players, they shouldn't ask me about anything because they're not getting any help, period, any more. Because we've bent over backwards to make sure that they can improve their program because I believe that's what you do."
Patterson then added further fuel to his fire.
"To be honest with you, SMU people have been looking down at TCU for a long time over here," he said. "So, us winning and doing things, the older group of alumni around here have a certain feeling about SMU. I didn't have that feeling, but I'm getting it."

What Champion110 and I, as well as very few others, have been saying for years! TCU and SMU will not mix nor be in the same conference.

Patterson is famous for taking very small comments and blowing them up for his advantage. If SMU does get invited to the BE TCU would like to be seen as the program that "helped" SMU. The only way that comes to light is for Patterson to blow up like he did.
It would not suprise me one bit for SMU and June Jones to publicly make some form of an apology or at least a statement. I guarantee June Jones did not mean to slight TCU nor did he know how Patterson felt about the comment until the article was published. I will all but guarantee this is a suprise to June Jones.
Patterson is a master at using small comments to his advantage.

He also went on to say that TCU's AD might help them, but Gary Patterson the HC won't help them...
Looks like SMU is under SERIOUS consideration -

TCU will be looking for "an out" the second SMU gets there if it happens at all. Just look at the last 15 years of history. Better yet go talk to older TCU and SMU grads.
Re: Big East authorizes "aggressive pursuit" of new schools
Just my opinion, but this article make TCU's Gary Patterson look petty and arrogant. It's almost as if he really thinks he should be revered and respected above all others. Maybe the Rose Bowl win and his success has gotten into his head.

If anything, the events of the last year point out the fact that HISTORY doesn't mean ANYTHING, NADA NOTHING - whether its 115 years or 15 years....

I think they are because the MWC is considering them. The BE needs to add schools that will maintain their AQ status. The MWC is on the BE's heels right now.
If SMU and Houston bolt to MWC and BE adds ECU and Central Florida and looses either TCU or West Virginia their AQ status is about toast.
BE is in survival mode for their AQ status.
If TCU feels like the BE can maintain AQ status they want nothing to do with the B12. Don't ya'll find it odd that TCU is not beating down the doors of the B12?
TCU has found a great niche in Texas recruiting without having to play the "Big Boys of A&M and UT".
Trust me if they don't have to play OU, UT, OSU, TTU, Mizzou to achieve AQ status they won't.
TCU is about TCU if adding SMU to the BE will maintain AQ status they will do....because it benefits TCU. They would also like to make it appear that they "helped" SMU unlike UT, OU, TTU, and Baylor did for them. Gary Patterson is all about TCU being the underdog.

That is correct and the BE would be stupid not to know that. TCU will lose the separation that they have worked so hard to achieve, if they are in the same conference. Why would the BE take that chance? SMU would not be a good addition, anyway.

What got Patterson so riled up?

He was mad about some bad calls anyway (got beat by SMU), but then Jones was his usual classless self at the presser and made a comment that implied TCU was easy to prepare for. Also, the player who was at the presser said he didn't like TCU people.
Re: Big East authorizes "aggressive pursuit" of new schools
So far . . . the Big East sucks at aggressive pursuit.
Re: Big East authorizes "aggressive pursuit" of new schools
With TCU going to B12, no way will SMU go to BE. Don't think they will go to MWC either. MWC will be looking to add any team that could allow them to qualify to replace BE as an AQ. Big East is caught between a rock, teams wanting to leave, and a hard place, no good teams willing to take a chance on the conference. Their only chance to survive is a hard commitment on the part of the remaining teams to stay for the long run and convince a team or teams with Boise or greater rating to join. And they have to do that very fast.

Once again, things are in the hands of the ACC, SEC, and Mizzou I suppose.
We need Mizzou to not be invited to the SEC.
We need the Big12 to stay pat with TCU.
We need the ACC to be content with the markets they have stolen from the BE so far.
We need the BE to not give up on AQ status (yet) by taking CUSA teams to tide them over.
Re: Big East authorizes "aggressive pursuit" of new schools
Big East isn't losing its automatic BC$ bid in this 2008-2011 cycle and MWC isn't getting the 7th bid unless TCU doesn't go anywhere (that isn't happening).
So the Big East then has to worry about the 2010-2013 cycle.
