Personally, I am in favor of this restriction for the crazy check folks, but I am not in favor of doing this via executive order. The president should not be able to deprive anyone of their constitutional rights (the right to bear arms) without going through congress and it passing a Supreme Court ruling.

Yes, and GOP said it was “heavy handed” and ACLU said it “unfairly sterotyped mentally ill as dangerous.” Unlikely bedfollows.

But how else would someone know that a buyer is mentally ill unless it shows up on the background check?

And if someone is too crazy to manage their finances, why are they not too crazy to have a gun?

No that's pretty stupid. That's "apples and oranges" my man. Apples and oranges.

They need to show up on background checks per if they have already been in a mental institution, taking certain psychotics,
have onset or full blown dementia or alzheimers, been in the federal or state pen, been accused in court of hurting/threatening or abusing children/adults or animals etc...

Pretty simple IMHO. Especially after how much data ObamaCare, NSA and his ilk other government collected on us all over the last 8 years.

From what I understand, they included stuff like "anxiety" and mild depression in the mix. These are hardly issues that would preclude being able to handle a gun....but they are hardly issues that would preclude you from working either.

This shows me that it's too easy to get a crazy check from the government. If you don't think so, watch "the wonderful whites of west virginia" and you'll change your mind. A whole family of useless dung collecting government money and having babies.

But, like I said, if you are willing to accept a check from the government for this stuff, I am in favor of restricting your right to carry a firearm (just do it via law and not executive action). I am also in favor of restricting your right to vote (and decide how tax dollars are to spent) if you don't pay taxes. And if you keep having babies on the public dollar, forced sterilization is certainly in the mix as well. Unrestricted immigration and the ability to do whatever you want should have ended with the onset of the welfare state...because I don't care what you do, I just don't think I should pay for it.

For those that have never bought a firearm, here is the form that you have to fill out and sign. https://www.atf.gov/file/61446/download Questions f,h, and i should have stopped him from purchasing a firearm. Why he didn't get a dishonorable discharge is hard to understand. He spent a year in the brig, spent time in a mental hospital, hit his stepson so hard that it cracked his skull and beat his wife, and was caught trying to smuggle firearms on to the base where he was stationed. This was a huge screwup by the Air Force. This guy should be in prison and the 46 people he shot would all still be alive.

It's absolutely amazing how much guvmint agencies (including the military) screw up and yet there are still morons out there who think giving that same guvmint more power and control is a good idea. That's why we call such morons "libtards."

Their lies are well documented and proven. Some would argue Bush was a liar, too, but that position seems more debatable.

I do agree that we should have safeguard in place that keep mentally ill people from obtaining firearms. As with many laws, it is the enforcement part that proves to be difficult, though.

I don't remember ever finding out what he meant by "having more flexibility after the election" when he was talking to the Russian diplomat. Was this the uranium deal? We need a special prosecutor to investigate this.
