Another great speech by Trump today that the market loved by the tune of up almost 2,000 points. A great leader for the times!
Trump declares coronavirus outbreak a 'national emergency,' says he will 'most likely' get tested
- READ IT: Trump letter declaring coronavirus national emergency under Stafford Act
- Trump waives interest on federally held student loans 'until further notice'
- Trump says he will ‘most likely’ be tested for coronavirus ‘fairly soon’

I don’t know. It sure tanked right after the first national address.
You also have to remember that 94% of the money in the market is institutional...meaning that the avg person doesn’t move the market, the institutional managers move the market. That doesn’t mean that those managers can’t be given to panic or emotion, but it’s not the same as if you or I got spooked by something and moved to cash in our retirement accounts.
Yep, ask your broker. The market loved Trump freeing more $$ by declaring a 'National Emergency '. And they are finally glad to see Pelosi/Dems (the party of No and do nothing) and the WH working together. the socialist Dems have been receiving tremendous heat, even by their own moderates (if there is such a thing), for playing pure politics
with this virus.
Likewise I think the declaration of a National Day of Prayer fits this senario as well.
There has been exacerbated movement in the market the last 30 minutes of Friday trading since the sell off begin. Go back and look at the charts. Most of the time it has been folks selling their longs going into the weekend news cycle to reduce their risk to 2 days of negative C19 headlines.
The past 2 weeks have been a massive washout of all stocks (with this week killing bonds and gold too). It appears folks wanted to cover their shorts and take profits now that the downside and upside risks are starting to get balanced. We had TWO massive -2k Dow point days this week. We were definitely oversold on a short term basis.
It was tactical that Trump started his speech at 3:30 eastern rather than at the announced 3:00 time. Normally important announcements are made after the market is closed so that the announcement itself doesn’t create unnecessary volatility.
In case you haven't figured it out yet, in the world according to Goosey, whenever the market tanks it is directly tied to something Trump said/Tweeted. And when the market rebounds and enjoys a bullish day, well, that has nothing to do with anything Trump said/Tweeted.
See how it easy it is in the world of a simpleton?
BTW, everyone, watch how much CRAP was inserted in that bill the House passed with only 40 nays, all by Repubs. Keep in mind who wrote the bill... Hopefully the Senate will actually read the damn thing, trim the fat, and send it back to the House.
Query : how brainless does one have to be to shake people’s hands when one knows he has been exposed to C19 but hasn’t been tested?
I know, but he hadn’t been tested, had been exposed, and was doing exactly the opposite of what his Coronavirus response team was telling America to do - and doing so flagrant on national broadcast while declaring a national emergency.
How much of an airhead do you have to be to do that?
You just have to be human, and in his case do what a true world leader would and show zero fear to things of the world. Only show to be wise, in this case, by waiting and only testing as needed if showing symptoms. Remember it could be, after exposure, that those in charge of the President's health demanded this testing as well. Who knows. But he did exactly as a true leader of the world should and would do.
Guisslapp, though not caused by the Lord, this virus could be a warning to the world that is only allowed by God; so that the world may know it's not too late to turn back to Jesus, in tremendous ways never seen before around the world, before it's too late for each individual.
2 Peter 3:9
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
1 Timothy 2:4
Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Romans 10:9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
John 17:3
And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
His experts have said to stop shaking hands, Ray. He either believes he is the exception of he is an airhead. Which is it?
I imagine he will or already has stopped. I believe that Trump today is a fearless and brave leader. Remember Churchill's great quote, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". That said, I would add the one from above since it's from the Lord:
Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
So which chapter of any book of leadership teaches “do what I say not what I do.”?
If true...shame on them!
Just heard one of the provisions tagged onto the crisis relief bill, now being debated in the Senate, was a demand that the US (President Trump) stop all military operations in Afghanistan immediately, and begin a withdrawal of our troops on the ground. This was proposed by a group of Repub senators. Or, so I hear. Look, I can agree our continued presence in Afghanistan needs to be strongly debated. But, this is not the time nor the method to secure legislation to make something happen. I have always despised lawmakers who hook unrelated stuff to important/critical bills. That is true if they have a (D) or an (R) behind their name.
So, if true SHAME on those Repub senators!
As for the topic...our continuing presence in Afghanistan. Well...I just read an article on British occupation/military operations in India in the 19th Century. Most of it focused on their war with the Sihks. In 1849 British forces invaded Afghanistan to crush assistance the Sihks were receiving from Afghan tribes. The Brits captured Kabul and defeated said Afghans. They left an 8,000-man garrison, supported by another 15,000 loyal tribesmen, to thwart further interference in the war in India. For the next 3 years the Brits fought a war in Afghanistan, winning and losing some battles. In the end, in 1852, a British general ordered all British troops out of Afghanistan, he said: "No foreign power will ever enjoy success trying to occupy Afghanistan." The Soviets tried, for 10 years, now we have tried...
Get us out.
But, please, do it on a separate motion in Congress...

More money for toilet paper and Little Debbie snacks.
Turns out it was one (R) who offered a motion to pay for the pending bailouts by shutting down operations in Afghanistan. That amendment was voted down 97-3 in the Senate.
Now the Dems are playing games with the planned bailouts, trying to create some new bureaucracy to manage the program. Shame on them!
Just an aside...
while this mess is creating an economic downturn and challenge, most retail stores (those selling "needed" products) have just enjoyed a windfall. Now, most of those benefitting are the large box stores: Walmart, Target, and the others like Dollar General, etc... A friend just FB messaged me his company has sold as much, in many products, this week as they usually sell in 3-4 weeks. Paper products, cleaning products, and stuff like that have been cleared from their shelves and from their immediate distribution warehouses. A lot of that stuff would have been still sitting on their shelves come March 31 and beyond, but it has all been sold. They have restocked and are still selling at an accelerated rate.
Now, restaurants, on the other hand, and businesses like that dependent on customers coming in daily, will suffer greatly. One client I have, owns three restaurants, two B&Bs, and is a partner in a hotel. Last week he stocked up on TP and such items out of fear his establishments might run out. Now, he has no customers but a two-month supply of supplies.
Just a few footnotes...
Anti-American liberal bastards!http://www.latechbbb.com/forum/image...s/furious3.gif Sorry......
- Former aides to high-ranking Democratic politicians are joining a so-called "coronavirus war room" in order to attack President Trump's response to the pandemic. Protect Our Care -- a nonprofit tied to liberal dark money groups -- announced the war room on Thursday, with its leaders accusing Trump of exacerbating the pandemic. Leading the war room is Zac Petkanas, a former adviser to Hillary Clinton and former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Sarah Chase, a former research associate for the presidential campaign of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is joining the team as well.
Patrick Devlin, former Communications Director for Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., will serve as an adviser to the war room as well. War rooms are generally set up within political organizations to provide rapid response to the media cycle.
- “This team has a wealth of know-how, experience and expertise and with the coronavirus crisis, which has been exacerbated by President Trump’s failure to prepare, we need the best in the business working on advocacy efforts to hold President Trump accountable for his failure to lead,” said Brad Woodhouse, Protect Our Care's executive director.
- Protect Our Care has been tied to "dark money" organizations like Arabella Advisors, which backs other groups attacking the president over the coronavirus response.
- Specifically, it houses the New Venture Fund and Sixteen Thirty Fund, both of which support another Democrat-aligned group -- American Bridge -- that's hammered Trump on the coronavirus response.
- The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that Pacronym is planning to spend $5 million on ads attacking Trump's response to the pandemic. That PAC is affiliated with the New Venture Fund and Acronym, whose board includes former Obama adviser David Plouffe. The ads will target five swing states (Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Arizona) and run on major digital platforms like Facebook.

POLLAK: TRUMP CORRECTS GEORGE W. BUSH’S GREATEST ECONOMIC MISTAKE
Let's pray he's right and this can happen.
Trump says he hopes to restart US economy by Easter
Guiss is right. And, Trump has no authority to overrule the governors on this.
We may be trending in the right direction by Easter, but many things will still need to be closed unless our testing increases exponentially.
That said, Trump has left himself plenty of room on this issue...provided he’s smart enough to use it.
Just pray he is right "Weedhopper"
https://radbola.files.wordpress.com/.../images-84.jpg
I think he is wrong about it starting back up by Easter, but I do think it will start back up by the end of April. You're fighting a straw man about "it wasn't Trump that turned off the economy in the first place". No one said he did and he is not suggesting he is going to overrule the state and local governments. I don't know what the breaking point will be, but I suspect before the end of April people will decide the self quarantine is worse than the disease and will decide to go back to work and risk it. Especially if some of the drugs start showing promise and the death rate drops.
He can suggest what he wants, but thankfully no one is going to listen to him if he suggests people go back, because people will ultimately do what they think is right for the safety of their communities - just like they did from the start without any suggestions from Trump.

Although it sounds ridiculous it is true those suffering from TDS would fault Trump if he found a cure for cancer.
So, in the wee hours this morning the Senate leadership agreed to terms for a bill. It's to be voted on today and then sent to the House. McConnell and Schumer said they are both confident Trump will sign this bill. Okay, now it is up to Pelosi...God help us.
And did I see that the household income threshold set to qualify for the checks is at $120K? If so....damn! left out again. :(
The bill hasn’t been published still, but I think it is something like this:
The plan’s provisions are very simple. Adults would get $1,200 each and children $500 each. At higher incomes, the checks would get smaller: The benefit would start decreasing at a rate of $5 for every additional $100 in income. The phaseout starts at $75,000 in adjusted gross income for singles, $112,500 for heads of household, and $150,000 for married couples filing jointly; it would phase out entirely by $99,000 for singles and $198,000 for couples (with no children).
Yes, I think Trump's overly optimistic "hope" of things being back to normal by Easter was just that "overly optimistic." But, that's his nature. He's a winner and thinks in the positive. Not too different than a coach who believes in his team... "I think we can reach the Final Four this year." Most fans, pundits then look at the team and think, "ah, good luck coach. Maybe, but it's a long shot for sure." Trump is a glass half-full guy.
I do think it is POSSIBLE that some parts of the economy can reopen and especially in the least risky regions of the country...mostly the red states in the middle of the country.
And researchers are learning more and more about C-19 and there is some encouraging news. But, there is some warnings as well...a second wave is possible. Watch Wuhan, China, provided we can get any news out of there. Experts on viral epidemics are warning infections will resurface and there will be another brush with an outbreak. So, even if things are looking up here in a couple of weeks, we should be mindful of a possible second wave.
I believe by Easter we will know where we stand and see the end of all this. Just that will give us a spark to begin easing back into things. I don't expect public schools to start back up or even church services by that point, but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel will get things going again. It's not a switch that can just be turned back on like the Trump haters wanted to hear in his "hope" statement.
Except for the obvious places of business, like restuarants, life (business) is continuing as normal. I met with two of my contractors yesterday, and yes, we tried to stay 6 feet apart...for the most part. It's being taken seriously, but with a light-hearted twist on it. No sense worrying yourself to death. Service-based businesses are still operating pretty much as usual. Today I have to meet, briefly, with another contractor and I have appointments with two clients. We will take sensible precautions.
The other day I saw one retail store open on Front Street, Natchitoches. But the owners were doing maintenance and some remodeling. I popped in and chatted with them briefly. They have been wanting to remodel their store for 10 years but have always been so busy they couldn't afford to close down. Well now...perfect!
I see commerce happening but there is simply less, much less, of the retail variety. Business to business and wholesale operations are continuing as usual.
Packed churches for Easter is a dangerously bad idea.
"We're opening up this incredible country. Because we have to do that. I would love to have it open by Easter," Trump said.
"I would love to have that. It's such an important day for other reasons, but I'd love to make it an important day for this. I would love to have the country opened up, and rarin' to go by Easter."
In a second interview with Fox that aired Tuesday afternoon, Trump said he offered the holiday as a deadline because "Easter's a very special day for me."
"Wouldn't it be great to have all the churches full?" Trump asked. "You'll have packed churches all over our country … I think it'll be a beautiful time."
I would love that too. It won't happen, but I would love it. I've said before, I think he's left himself sufficient wiggle room on this if he can restrain his base instincts and follow the advice of the experts when the time comes.
Interesting that Easter is so special for a guy that says he's never asked for forgiveness...why would Easter be special?
There is a difference between Wouldn’t and Won’t. One is meant as speculative, and the other is definitive. You know which is which. The president says some stupid stuff, but it only makes it worse when a rather bland comment gets turned on it’s head by left leaning interpreters(pseudo-journalists).
He led with speculation, so that is how I read his whole comment.
You only seem to have a problem with people judging those you agree with. He said it in an interview with Cal Thomas (not an unfriendly to him). He says he "will be asking for forgiveness, but hopefully I won't have to be asking for much forgiveness." He never challenges Thomas's set up "You have said you never felt the need to ask for God's forgiveness..."
I didn't judge anybody. I'm taking him at his word (maybe a mistake). You've never judged a democrat I'm sure!
Hahahaha
And, don't say I never liked Trump. I like him a lot in jobs he's qualified for. No, he shouldn't be president. And, no, I wouldn't trust him in real estate. But, he's a great reality TV star. I like him a lot in that setting.
My agenda?
Hahaha. Do his words comport with what you've been taught is a sign of saving faith? Does his claim that he doesn't have much to ask for forgiveness for jive with your understanding of the Gospel?
When you call Hillary an evil lesbian bitch, you're not questioning her salvation and Methodist faith?
Interesting.
What you posted was an interview with Cal Thomas and a typical Trump answer. That answer does not rule him out for salvation, but according to you it does.
My 100% accurate description of Clinton as an evil lesbian bitch is who she is. I never questioned her salvation like you have done many times with Trump. Being Methodist has nothing to do with anything.
My sin is not a sin of judgement since I have not questioned anything regarding her faith. She would have to make a public statement regarding her faith for me to denounce or question her faith. I don't recall her EVER making such a remark, but if she did I'd leave it alone just as I have not questioned the faith of that evil, lying, bitch, Nancy Pelosi.
Hahahaha...
Okay. Whatever you need to tell yourself.
I don't know Trump and I won't speak for his Salvation. I CAN say without judging that his words are not compatible with the Gospel (a question you apparently don't want to answer). And, you know it.
If he believes what he says, he's not a follower of Christ. Right?
I think t's important to distinguish between "judging" someone's worth or value as a human being and "judging" who we should follow or imitate. We often use the same word, but they're not the same act.
Having said that ... Scripture indicates that a saved individual will produce fruits of the Spirit. And these can often be outward, visible evidence (not proof, but evidence) of a person's salvation.
I think we can agree on this much, yes?
Does anyone know how DonW is doing? I haven’t seen him post in a while.
I certainly wouldn't model my faith after Trump and it's certainly not a humble answer to say you don't have much to ask forgiveness for. That said, I won't question his faith because I don't know what is in his heart. It is his schtick to be arrogant maybe it's an act ( I suspect the media would pounce on any admission of fault from Trump anyway).
Johnny, what words exactly are you saying aren't compatible with the gospel? The "hopefully I won't have to ask for too much forgiveness". Seems like that should be everyone's goal.
Cal Thomas quoted him as saying he never felt the need to ask for forgiveness. Trump doesn’t dispute that and only slightly modified his original statement.
In another interview I watched him say he’d never asked God for forgiveness (I assume that’s what Thomas was referring to).
You can’t come to Christ without a clear knowledge of the seriousness of your sin. Public Trump has never acknowledged anything close to biblical repentance.
Yeah, that's pretty hard to reconcile when we can say with relative certainty that he at least has committed adultery. I suspect in his business endeavors he probably has quite a few more sins to add on in addition to lies etc. You would think he could find something in there to ask forgiveness for.
Dang! a soon-to-be former friend Vickey L. has been on an anti-Trump, anti-GOP, and yes, anti-American rant on a local blog. Thought I knew her...after 25 years...but guess I don't. Such venom! And all rooted in misinformation from the lamestream media spin. Wow! Oh well, one less at the huge celebration when this mess ends. So sad.
It’s not about keeping a list, it’s about not being sure you have anything to apologize about...and if you do, it’s probably not that bad. You can’t, with a straight face, say his statements are those of someone who has even an elementary understanding of the Gospel.
OMG, you guys are making me remember why I stopped going to church 30 years ago. Thanks for the memories.
Again,"That was almost 4 years ago while running for office; and God doesn't demand Trump come on TV and tell you or the country he has asked forgiveness. That's between Trump and the Lord." The one thief on the cross was saved in mere seconds by his deathbed statement of faith and believing. A lot has happened in Trump's life since and there are a lot of good people he has potentially "seen the light and come to salvation" via their lives, statements, presence and the Holy Spirit's influence/moving.
As Pawdawg basically said above, praise the Lord for grace and mercy!
Post-turtle Trump yesterday mocked Cuomo’s claim of need for more ventilators. Now today he is adamantly tweeting at Ford and GM demanding that they make ventilators. Can you invoke the Defense Production Act via tweet?
You can’t make this stuff up.
Too bad NYC officials didn't take it seriously sooner.
https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/03/the-timeline-of-how-bill-de-blasio-prepared-new-york-city-for-the-coronavirus/
Same goes for New Orleans. Allowing Mardi Gras to proceed was a major mistake.
Can’t expect cities or even businesses to make the right calls for the overall public good, even though many have. The decisions they make impact other communities and vice versa. That is why we need a total federal response. Otherwise any state or city is really powerless to protect its citizens.
Trump just explained the circumstances involving GM....he handled it properly.
BTW anyone see the CEO of Ford interviewed the other day? He said Ford stepped up during WWII to build military equipment needed by the US. "We built the B-52 bomber" he said. The B-52? Wow! little wonder we whipped the Germans and the Japs!!
Actually, Ford built the B-24 Bomber, The Liberator. Good airplane but nowhere near as powerful as the B-52.
