- #2 LEO "The Lip" DUROCHER, major leaguE manager 24 seasons:
- Known as one of baseball’s fieriest personalities who would do anything to win, Leo Durocher did just that: Win. Over 24 years as a skipper for the Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros, Durocher won 2,008 total games, three pennants and a World Series.
But it was Durocher’s controversial banter with umpires, executives and players that earned him his eternal reputation as “The Lip.”
Durocher’s life in baseball began as a small, slick-fielding shortstop with the dynastic New York Yankees of the 1920s. While he was not an imposing hitter, Durocher’s scrappy play and maximum effort led Babe Ruth to call him “the All-American out.” Durocher won the 1928 World Series with the Yankees, then won another Fall Classic as captain of the St. Louis Cardinals’ “Gashouse Gang” in 1934.
- Durocher's autiobiography was titled: "Nice Guy Finish _______" (who knows the answer?)
#2 Lady Techster star Whitney Frasier, Started all four years, scored over 1600 points and nabbed over 800 rebounds for the Techsters. During her career at Tech, Frazier scored 1,631 points (16th all-time), including 82 career double digit scoring games and 24 career double doubles. She is one of only three players in program history to score at least 1,500 points, grab at least 800 rebounds, record at least 200 assists and register at least 175 steals. Now playing in Europe.
#2 Bulldog junior forward Eric McCree: Started all 36 games, one of three Bulldogs to do so ... Third on the team in scoring with an average of 11.4 points per game and second in rebounds with 5.6 board per game ... Was leading scorer in eight games and leading rebounder in 12 games
