Re: 2016 Football Commitments
And I can not remember the last time we got a 3 star commit over a year out. 3 star WR from Evangel committed to us his Junior year. I could be wrong but I do not recall getting commits over a year ahead. Holtz still has some head scratching decisions on game day, but he is doing well in recruiting IMO. See Boston Scott.........

great post Don
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
I think back on games where we had only true freshman and redshirt freshman on field ( mop up time). Only Skip had belief in Trent. I also think other bigger schools come after Holtz verbal commitments because they respect the fact he wants them ( small degree ). Also tough to recruit a young man for a year and watch the coach who is recruiting you bail out. Not enough praise for the job JJ has done on making us an alternative in South La. we also finish above average in Rivals CUSA -ratings
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
Trent Taylor is a pretty good two star receiver.

Sonny Dykes was the only coach to offer Trent Taylor a scholarship.
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
I thought Taylor was 3 star with a few late offers.. Texas Tech, Kentucky, and/or Houston maybe. I could be wrong.
Either way, many schools would love to go back and offer him in hindsight.
Despite his occasional wtf in-game decisions, I agree with most; Holtz runs a clean program and is well liked by the players.
As long as we have solid QB play, Holtz is recruiting enough talent to continue winning (which will help future recruiting.)
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
Jon Randall Belton committed

Offered by Georgia Tech, TCU and Miss St. That's how I judge recruits. By the other schools making the offers. The Stars are nice but I would rather have a 2 Start offered by those three schools than a 3 Star offered by SFA, ulm, arkyst. and ulL. Although with a QB you never know what position they are recruiting him for. Either way it's still a good verbal. I would like to here some info on him from some of you who have had the opportunity to see him play. What kind of offense does WM run?

Is he coming as QB? If so, ole boy that de-committed recently is probably out of an offer from us.

Yup. And that would just be too bad huh?
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
Hopefully, Rattay will start recruiting our QB's as well as other players. I know coaches sometimes have an area that they recruit. Rattay should be able to land a stud here pretty soon.
https://latech.rivals.com/viewcoach....rt=1&year=2016 Like Nussmeier , he looks to be going after QB's...

Nope. Dykes was the only coach to take a chance on Taylor. Evangel couldn't even convince any FCS or D2 schools to offer him because of his height.

Scout had him as a 2-star, but rivals and 247 had him as a 3-star. I was a little shocked when I went back to double check 06's claim that he only had one offer. He's absolutely right. That's crazy to me.
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
If you watch Belton's video on 247.. I believe it's freshman and sophomore season.. He looks good. Weird release, but quick. No zip but he was a kid (still is).

Belton was offered during summer camp, before Wudtee committed, and before the latest injury.
