The subject was California. Btw, New Yorkers are also leaving that state in droves as well. Democrat socialist leadership is terrible everywhere in America and proven to be disastrous on the global scale. Loser regressive liberals!!

Yep, but higher in CO than they were, plus other fees (taxes). The bigger point re: property taxes is the ever-increasing property value assessments. Californians who would have to pay $800K for a two-room cottage relocate to places like CO and plunk down "sticker price" or more, driving up prices and thus property values. A longtime resident minding their own business, in Pueblo, Co, in the house they bought in the 1980's sees their assessments rise year after year even though they have made no appreciable improvements to the house. So, even if the rates remain relatively static, even though they have inched up some, their annual property tax has increased, almost tripled since they purchased their house. This is what my good friend, Joel, tells me. He says he has seen folks buying up property around him, and paying ludicrous prices for it. And, we had our own experience about 30 miles west of him in Custer County.
Now, one would say, hey! that is great, now Joel and others have something of much greater value! True, when they get ready to sell. But for now the carrying costs have increased and Joel is retired living on a fixed income.
Well just another elitist non-essential getting her China flu shot before the needy.

Prominent doctor in California fired for questioning coronavirus lockdown.
Argued data shows 'it's safe for their kids to go back to school'.
A prominent California doctor says he was fired after questioning his county's coronavirus stay-at-home orders.
Dr. Michael Deboisblanc -- the trauma medical director for John Muir Health before he wrote to health officials in Contra Costa County, California -- explained in an interview Wednesday he was advocating for parents who want their children to go back to school.

"All the data that I am aware of, looking at children and the virus, shows that it's safe" to reopen schools, Debloisblanc told Sandra Smith on Fox News' "America's Newsroom."
"There are many other states now that have months of track records showing that it’s safe for their kids to go back to school. And the state of California and the county is just not making that possible," he said.
TRENDING: Poll: Nearly half of registered voters believe election was fraudulent
In his letter, along with two other physicians, Deboisblanc said "the science is clear that more lockdowns lead to much more non COVID morbidity and mortality."
He also noted there are restaurants "that are just trying to survive, and keep their doors open."

I was responding to this, which is about CO, not CA. Reading comprehension.

We bought 5 acres in Custer County back in 1992, paid $14,500 for it. Sold it a few years ago for $107,000, and could have gotten more except I wanted a quick sale and took the first quality offer. Property taxes had almost tripled over that time, and there was about to be some silly fees
Westcliffe is a neat, little town. But it's starting to look like a ghost town, much like its next door neighbor Silver Cliff. We spent the day there in August, visiting an old friend. Half the town on main street is shuttered businesses. For sale signs everywhere. Back in 2017, which was the last time previously we had visited, there were new folks in town, including a fellow from Missouri who was retired from International Paper, and who had sunk most of his life savings in the purchase and revitalization of a hotel-restaurant. We had breakfast then at his place and Wow! what an awesome breakfast it was too. This past August the restaurant was closed, and we spoke to the manager of the small hotel and she said the family was away and the restaurant would reopen post-virus mess. I certainly hope so.
The entire population of Custer County is about 5,000. It's mostly ranches.
I think you're both right. I suppose that's what happens when we SHOUT to have a point heard, and not really pay attention when someone else says (or posts) something. We tend to block them out, tune them out, dismiss them as a shill, and don't pause long enough to even try to listen to their viewpoint(s). You still have the option of stating, I understand you completely and reject your premise and/or disagree with your opinion.
Merry Christmas all!
There's a police video making the rounds on Facebook of a traffic stop this past August of BLM leader Faith Shields-Dixon (I think that's her name). It's typical. She gets pulled over for going 44 in a 30 MPH zone and immediately starts fussing with the cops. They ask to see her license, proof of insurance, and registration...she doesn't have the requested documents handy...she does hand them an expired proof of insurance card, and the one for another vehicle. She fusses, "I have six cars! I can't keep this all straight." She calls her "hubby" (her term), and threatens to call the chief of police and the mayor to file a complaint. She does say, "Y'all are just harassing me because I'm with Black Lives Matter." The police show remarkable patience and two more squad cars appear and Shields-Dixon goes nuts, "Oh, I see, you need more of you!" Eventually she is given several citations and off she goes.
She has SIX CARS...actually she was in a SUV...typical leftists, the leaders...the pigs of Animal Farm...are rich and they use people to get and stay rich.
