THANKS, OLDBLUE, for helping me keep this thread on page one. I don't know what I caught in Dallas, but it sure made me feel like crap!!!! Got some wonder drugs from the doctor and they are helping.
http://www.everyjoe.com/wp-content/g...streaker-6.jpg
Maybe a streaker will help?
Watched the TECH game Saturday....looked like the Dawgs were going to give the game away like they did to Tulane and Kansas!!!! If they keep playing like that, I'll have a lot less hair by the end of the season!!!:icon_mad:
Somebody needs to get that girl a couple of Monster Burgers from Griffs. (Go ahead Champ. I set it up for you.)
I wonder where else she has a Tatoo??
Larry..................thanks for the post.
If you want a thread to die...you should never tell anyone that you ground your pecker up in a pencil sharpener!
Something interesting happened to me Saturday. There was a car show in downtown Natchitoches, LA. I entered my 1980 Camaro in hopes of selling it. Front street was closed off to traffic. I was standing in Front street by my Camaro. I had on blue pants, my TECH shirt and TECH hat because it was game day!
A man in Northwestern gear walked up to me and said, "Don't you know you can be arrested for wearing TECH clothing in downtown Natchitoches?" I looked at him and he started laughing. He then introduced himself. It was Lee Posey, Mayor of Natchitoches. I knew the previous two Mayors, but had never met him.
Long story short...we talked about the TECH/Northwestern games of the past, etc. He mentioned the upcoming game next year and said the Northwestern fans had suggested having the game in Shreveport like old times. I told him most of the TECH fans were totally against the game being played anywhere except in Ruston. He wasn't too happy about that, but so be it!!!!
Sure wish we had a home game this week. Still have mild football withdrawal pains after seeing all four games in Sept. Even though the results weren't what we wanted, I love being there rooting for my Bulldogs. At least I have a 7 day kayaking trip to Missouri to keep my mind off football!! Paddling the North Fork of the White, Bryant Creek, Big Piney, Eleven Point. Had to change a day on the Current and Jack's Fork due to the Democrat's govt shutdown shenanigans.
Looking forward to us beating UNT on the 19th. WE ARE....BULLDOGS!!!!!
First of 2 in a 4 week period
Big Piney in North Central Arkansas? If so, you may pass right by a landmark from my childhood. I didn't live there, but Dad's parents moved there back in the 50's (from Three Nob). We used to cross the Piney on a one way cable suspension bridge. I still have nightmares of that thing, just knew we were going to experience a bridge collapse every time we crossed it. The rest of the journey, off HWY 7, we crossed the "rivers" on the rocks of the river bed- no bridges. Foothills of the Ozarks between Bugger Hollow and Dover. Home of great Alberta (white meated) peaches back then.
Still searching for words...
If there is one regret I have from playing college football, its that I didn't play for New Mexico State.
10 fans per game? Middle of nowhere? Cold? Cow grass for a field? And now PINK UNIFORMS!?!!?!
SIGN ME UP!!
OMG! I screwed up and kept this thread alive. Sorry.
Oh heck, I did it again too.
#4 looks defeated...
#56's hand position takes the cake -
Oldblue, I love Arkansas' Big Piney. Wondering if you crossed it a little ways above Dover near Long Pool campground, or if you went on up a good ways and crossed it near Haw Creek Falls? This trip is to Big Piney in Missouri, Arkansas Big Piney is too dry. But...
I've had some awesome trips there; some fun; some very tense at higher water. My oldest son and I paddled it about 20 years ago as it was rising fast and in a thunder storm. Two canoes ahead of us actually sank and totally disappeared:shocked2: at the biggest rapid, "The Mother" although the official name is "Cascade of Extinction.":D On another trip I went into an eddy in my solo canoe, my paddle hit a shallow rock, and pole vaulted me out of the boat without flipping the canoe. My $150 wood paddle's inch-and-a-half paddle shaft splintered like a toothpick. If we go next spring I'll make some photos of the area for you.
Like you I've got great memories of the Big Piney. Glad you posted!
I'll update it here.:D
Sometime I'd really like to get together a paddling trip for Tech fans in warmer weather, May - Sept, to north Arkansas or southern Missouri. It'd be a lot of fun. Maybe we could talk about how the 2013 team RALLIED, finished 7 - 5, and WON IT'S BOWL GAME!!!!! Gotta believe.
Three weeks until MBB in the TAC, ten days until homecoming and BULLDOG FOOTBALL!!
Glad our Dawgs are working on fundamentals at practice. But, sure will miss having a game this Saturday.
Could it have been this bridge? I'm also checking into one other possibility between this one and Dover where a newish (60's - 70's) has been built?

Got some tough paddling weather next week. Tues high 64, 50% rain, north winds 8mph. Wed high 56, low 43, cloudy, 12 mph north winds, Thur high 61, low 40, 60% rain with 8 mph winds.
What do kayaks and Sun Belchers have in common?
Both are easier to handle if they're paddled once a week.:D
BUMP...just because!
Gotta keep it alive...
Got me to thinking. I believe the cable suspension one was on a smaller creeks a lil' farther into the hills toward Lutherville. Been too long ago. I have an older cousin that still "kicks" around the old home places up in the hills. His dad, my uncle, put about every cent he ever made into land purchases between the Arkansas river and other spots N/W of Russelville. The family had houses scattered all over out there ( seemed one per chile and grand child). All the scattering has left me directionless when I try to re-trace the backroads without my cousin's assistance.
I doubt the old bridge would still be there. In 1954 I certainly thought it was ready to cave. You could feel the thing swaying and dipping as the car went across. I do remember another narrow bridge after we left HWY 7, maybe on or off "old" highway 7. The road was not paved up to the second bridge.
Isn't it great to have a thread where you can connect in regard to good old memories???? Thanks, Lotsudo for the bump. :)
Looks like Obama is about to lead us into a mess!!!! I do not understand someone who WILL NOT negotiate......unless they are a dictator!!!
BTBers don't share much info any more. Does anyone else get information on practices, player injury updates and the like. The "recruit" forum is beginning to be as useless as a dew claw on a hound's leg.
Take that and ...

Bump from Batesville Arkansas
If this thread is so worthy, why does it need constant bumping? It should survive on its own merit....or not at all.
80 being 80. :D
Thump...bump............:)
Almost time for Halloween.

Kind of reminds me of the Dude sliding down the bowling lane on his back with Kenny Rogers and the 5th Edition singing "I Just Dropped In".

Ready for some Bulldog football!!
Had 5 wonderful days paddling and camping in Missouri, driving back today.
GO DOGS
Yep..........less than 48 hours til kickoff!!! GO DAWGS!!!
This thread is about 600 posts from catching up with BTE II. Not bad...since BTE II has been on here 5 years longer than this thread.
It's National Diarrhea Awareness Month.. No sh**!
Thanks, nice LONG drive home of 450 miles but so worth it to paddle and camp in the chilly fall Ozarks. Nights 40 - 45 degrees, fall color, clear running streams, great evening campfires, nice diversion during a slow athletics week.
TECH ATHLETICS IS REALLY GETTING INTO GEAR NOW!! Next four weeks has TWO Bulldog football games; FOUR basketball events (3 mens' game and the basketball madness event); TWO DEBUT opportunities (Scotty Robertson court and MillsapsVision scoreboard: LOTS OF TRIPS TO RUSTON!!
And just think: we've got THIS COOL THREAD to discuss it all!!!!!!!!:D

My dad is recovering from surgery and was watching from home - we were texting throughout. Here is best text ever
"Good thing I took nausea medicine or I would vomit. This looks horrible"
I went to the game, took two cowbells, rang both cowbells and yelled as loud as I could when the other team had the ball. I did my part!!!!! We lost!!! DAMN!!!! Two yard pass plays won't do it!!!!
If you want this thread to die, do all that can be done for a 12-0 season for the DAWGS!
Thanks for the effort 70.
GO Dawgs......I'm with you, no matter what!!!

"Yea, Bruce?"
"This time, really explore the studio space."
"You got it Bruce"

Never gets old....
I posted this in the thread, Why aren't we getting any better?. I'm posting it here, because it really ticked me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried all season to get my wife to go to a game. She went Saturday. Afterward, she said TECH needs to get a new everything and start over!! I told her... that is what we have done...and why we have a problem. She just looked at me and said.....y'all better start over again, because it still isn't working. I told her the next home game is Southern Miss and we should win that game. She then said....that is what you said about Tulane, Army, and North Texas. I had no reply. :(
