No ground breaking until football season. Construction will start after this season.
Re: South Endzone Complex Daily Progress Report
Supposedly not even finished with the development plans yet. That was the only part of the presentation last night that I didni't enjoy. Hearing the same old its an exciting time, we are in the planning stages, we still need money, statement almost line for line, word for word that we always hear when it comes to the Q4E projects.
Other than that I thought it was a pretty nice evening.

Re: South Endzone Complex Daily Progress Report
There was a person from UNT (basically Corey Stegall's counterpart) present last night and I felt a little angry that in the time we have been drawing up plans, a big commuter school built an entire stadium.... Whether you like their design etc or not, its a huge step up from what they had.
They said this is what we want, went to the students, went to alumni, etc and just got it done.

They had one family basically pay for the whole thing. They have 4 times the student population. Last night was BY FAR the best turn out we have had in Dallas area. It was a great event. New faces and new money showed up. Positive all around! Positive positive positive.....you feel it brother! I went to a similar event 6 or 7 years ago and we had 12 people show up. I bet we had 100 to 150 last night. Good stuff, good times! Positive all around.

I wondered why they were in attendence, thought it was strange.
UNT paid for their new stadium on the back of students, UNT has a $10 per semester hour athletic fee to "to cover the cost of UNT athletics programs." That's $300 a year for the average student. Heck 85% of our local student pay $0 for tuition. UNT has over 28,000 undergraduate students, you run the numbers - and its unbelivable.

Yes, it was a good time. Holtz is obviously a better speaker than our previous coaches in those settings. It also helped to have the new President in attendence and speaking.
JL, are you a youngster? This in not the largest event in DFW, Bill Clark organized a crawfish boil in the 1980's that was held on Flag Pole Hill in Dallas. The turnout exceeded 500, and some said 700-800 showed up. It was amazing.

I don't feel young, but I guess I am. I was in middle school in mid 80's. :)
This was classy event and attended by folks that can make a difference financially.

Re: South Endzone Complex Daily Progress Report
What the hell is going on out here? Are we in a lame duck session w/ our AD or what? We're on our 3 head coach in 4 years... Alumni are hurt and tired with the transitions and need something tangible to hang our hat on to show our program is moving forward... It is unacceptable that this stadium upgrade still isn't even designed yet...other Universities are feeling the pinch of the economy too and they're still finding creative ways to keep moving forward... Get it done!!!
