It actually proves the point. His water vapor went up and condensed on his face and glasses rather than projecting out (picture a puff of smoke like a cigarette) outwardly multiple feet where people are breathing high concentrations of it.

No one is claiming that water vapor can’t pass through a mask. We are talking about the distance if passes through a mask - how far your sillage of Covid particles spread as you are going about.

See the illustrations of the effect of wearing surgical mask in FIGs. 6-9.
It is obvious that masks help. No one is saying masks are a panacea, and everyone agrees that vaccination is better.
And if moisture can reach his glasses a couple of inches from his mouth through 5 masks, just think how far those particles can travel through 1, 2, or even 3.
Those of us that studied fluid dynamics/transport phenomena at Tech instinctively know this.
Crazy that Hawaii, with mask mandates going back more than 15 months, has the same infection rates per 1000 as Texas without the mandates.
Texas is exposed to the flood of illegals bringing the virus in.
My apologies. Current infection rates, not cumulative.
Hawaii has done much worse lately since they fully reopened schools on August 3, two weeks earlier than most of Texas. The schools that opened last week are seeing huge upticks in infection compared to last year. If you have a kid in Texas schools, they are probably going to get COVID. Our governor made sure that people have no way to protect their children.

Another ridiculous statement.
But it fits his and his leftist narrative.
What is the point of issuing a rule that prohibits businesses from requiring masks? Businesses can require shoes or shirts, but no masks?
What can schools do to make sure all the kids don’t get COVID?
What is the point of issuing a rule that mandates masks? Schools can’t do anything because they can’t force students to wear masks correctly much less at all. You and your leftist haters live in a bubble
NYC requiring proof of vaccination and ID to enter a restaurant.
The purpose of the ID is to limit “fraud”.
What a bunch of racists.
For a mask to be effective at school each child must sanitize their hands, take a mask as they enter the classroom, never touch it after it is on their face, throw it away as they leave the classroom, sanitize their hands again since they touched a dirty mask, the classroom door, or anything else, then proceed to their next class and start over. They must also wear them properly at all times. A mask of ANY kind worn all day does nothing but encourage sickness. They get dirty, sweaty, dropped on the floor, worn into bathrooms and locker rooms, oh, and they aren’t worn properly anyway. Also, we have yet to find a material that my daughter can wear for more than 30-45 minutes that doesn’t break her out in a rash. No allergies, just sensitive skin that gets irritated quickly. That is miserable. But I guess a small price to pay for the illusion of safety.
This all seems like the perfect recipe for success does it not. Getting 1st graders to wears masks. Ha!
Blanket mandates from people who don't understand or care about children's needs is the definition of binary thinking.
At best, masks WORN CORRECTLY is only part of the solution, but that's the only part you people focus on. Forcing them to be worn correctly is as impossible as forcing them to be worn.
You do realize you are following the idiots who run the teacher's unions don't you?
I’ll tell you who is focusing on masks…that is DeSantis and Abbott who issued orders prohibiting businesses making rules on them. Except instead of focusing on how people can use them as part of an overall strategy, they wanted to remove this effective tool from people. And there is no justifiable reason for doing so other than catering to their anti-intellectual base.
That isn’t the only way a mask would be effective. Because any moment a kid is wearing a mask they are projecting viral particles a much shorter distance. For that class period, kids sitting at least a few feet away from them have a chance of not getting COVID from them.
Here's a very small snippit in the much bigger picture of this mess...
I know 4 men, between the ages of 33 and 54, two of them fully vaxxed, the other two no vax. All 4 tested positive for China Delta, all 4 got sick, they all had the same experience, light flu-like symptoms, low grade fever and all perfectly fine by day 7. Three of the four are dedicated mask-wearers, the 4th is (was) a sometime mask-wearer, and he was one of the vaxxed ones. Michael A., age 33, has been one of those "militant" advocates for vaxxing, wearing masks, social distancing...he has been on Facebook for over a year cheerleading every mandate, encouraging folks to comply, chastising those who don't. He just posted that he can't explain why HE, one of those Fauci-worshippers, got sick from China Delta, but he still believes everything.
Of course there are those posting on his FB page with the "told you so." His wife posted she has followed the same regimen, and of course, they have been, ahem, very close, sharing food, kissing, etc... and she has not even tested positive for the virus. I am no virologist so I have no idea how this is possible, except to speculate our individual bodies, and its defense system, is very unique and will respond to outside threats in very different ways. If, BIG IF, this is more common, and not just some isolated incidents, then this does cast doubt on everything "we" have tried. It might be it is just a random luck lottery, and either you get the virus or you don't and there are no measures to change that.
A very close friend, Nora D., a 61 yr old woman, has never worn a mask, claims medical reasons, is not vaxxed, and even cared for a friend last year who got clobbered by the China virus and she has never, ever had an issue. She refuses to get tested too so it is possible she is virus-positive, but heck! it hasn't affected her any.
Hearing that the rapid tests are being thrown out because many people tested positive for China virus, but have been tested for antibodies and don’t have any. Apparently, the rapid test picks up several infections. Also, hospitals get more money if people are positive. This whole thing still stinks to me. If they require a higher level of care, that’s one thing. But just having beds full of “Covid” patients should not get the hospital more compensation.
This stuff doesn’t add up. People pushing certain things stand to make a ton of money because they helped develop said thing. Or they lobby for said thing, or said thing donated to their campaign. It just stinks.
How many have been hospitalized and/or died from something else labeled as Covid because of a faulty test?
Because kids aren’t vaxxed. Hawaii proves masking plus social distancing works. Once Texas schools have been open for three weeks we can compare Texas to Hawaii. Houston ISD schools open this week.
We know reopening schools will increase transmission because you are putting a lot of unvaxxed people together.
Two of the men and the woman are all un-vaxxed and the woman doesn't wear a mask, ever! In this very limited sample 60% of the subjects are un-vaxxed and no one ended up in the hospital or even suffered a bad case. Not a scientific study, of course, just 5 people I happen to know. It is interesting that this, combined with the 50 or so party animals I've mentioned, all fly in the face of the fear-mongering. YES! I know these folks represent a tiny % of the greater population, I get that. But combined with the stat of 12,000 cases out of 4 million+ people in Louisiana, for an infection rate of just .003% (that's 1/3 of 1%) it does cast doubt on the whole "crisis."
Everyone I know (friends/relatives of friends/relatives) that are currently in the hospital or died last week were unvaxxed. Fortunately, my friends are all vaxxed and those that got Covid before vaccinating did not get hospitalized. But in my “second-degree” friend zone there has been a tremendous increase in hospitalizations with delta.
Time for the FDA to be abolished since it now follows political influence more than it does science.
The Pfizer vaccine, at no better than 40% efficacy in the latest scientific studies, no longer meets the 50% efficacy threshold to even be granted an emergency approval according the FDA's own rules.
Clinical trials of the experimental gene therapy are tainted and do not meet the basic scientific criteria to be used as evidence. Any jab mandate proponents don't have to trust me, trust NPR's reporting.
Moderna And Pfizer Vaccine Studies Hampered As Placebo Recipients Get Real Shot : Shots - Health News : NPR
My wife got COVID in February. She was over it in 7 days (with high blood pressure and other conditions), and during that time repeatedly sneezed on me and coughed on me and I even handled her test kit when she went and found out she had COVID. I NEVER got anything. No fever, sneezing or anything like that at all. Two months later I went and got the vaccine and had an allergic reaction to it where I spent a few hours under observation as my bleeding would not stop and my arm swelled up about twice it's size (much to the delight of our resident know-it-all, soy boy here).
I respect everyone's decisions about this, and in no way to I think there is a one-size-fits-all solution to be mandated here. Obviously I will not be getting a booster because of my reaction, but would recommend the vaccine to anyone that has not had a reaction to the shot OR HAS NOT HAD COVID.
I doubt it's random luck, though. Some folks obviously have some natural immunity to the virus. It's possible. I had to take a smallpox vaccination numerous times as a child because I never had one take.
If you are sensitive to any of the ingredients in a vaccine, you might not have the same problem with the other. If you are sensitive to polyethylene glycol, you might do better with JNJ that doesn’t have it. Alternatively, if you are sensitive to the polysorbate in JNJ, you might do better with the mRNA vaccines.
You don’t think it has anything to do with people being stuck inside because it’s 9000 degrees and then all the student they are thrown back into an environment with close contact? I’m just trying to explore every possibility of why people are sick. Will the same thing happen when people in the Midwest are cooped up in 10 degree weather and then thrust back into society when it warms up?
Just dropped our kids off for the first day. This is probably the riskiest thing we have done since COVID started. Got 8th, 6th, and a 2nd grader. In my experience, kids do just fine with masks. The kids who's parents make a big deal about tyranny and what not usually have kids who won't wear the masks. School leadership is also a big factor. My youngest has a principal who obeys the rules about 25% of the time. She has a staff that follows suit. The older kids have a principal that takes it seriously and they have much better masking procedures there.
The biggest impact is made by parents. It's true, you need to wear a good mask and you need to wear it properly. I watched my nephew where a mask properly in August (2020) at Disney World in 90 degree temps. It can be done. That said, one kid wearing a dirty mask or wearing it improperly doesn't invalidate the effectiveness of a masking policy. That's silly.
Glad your reaction wasn’t more serious. My daughter has similar swelling reaction to the flu shot. Each year she has gotten one, the swelling is more wide spread and lasts longer. We are probably not doing the shot for our kids this year.
I am curious to see if this vaccine has a similar progression for people who choose to get the annual (you can bet) booster. If they had localized swelling with shots 1 and 2, will it get progressively worse with each dose? Will it produce a dependence (drug companies hope so)?
The FDA rules state that once any treatment receives general approval, all emergency approvals for that category are automatically to be rescinded. Just another inconvenient detail the FDA is intentionally overlooking.
There are problems with all of the experimental jabs. A political stamp of approval changes nothing.
You were snookered (again)
Noticeably absent is any mention of the word “category.” Instead, the termination applies on a per declaration basis (and bear in mind that other EUAs still exist for Pfizer vaccine, like for kids and for boosters of immunocompromised). The JNJ and Moderna vaccines were part of separate EUA declarations issued on different days.Quote:
2. Termination of an EUA Declaration
When an EUA declaration is terminated, then any EUA(s) issued based on that declaration will no longer remain in effect.18 The HHS Secretary’s EUA declaration will terminate on the earlier of: (1) a determination by the HHS Secretary that the circumstances that precipitated the declaration have ceased (after consultation as appropriate with the Secretary of Homeland Security or the Secretary of Defense), or (2) a change in the approval status of the product such that the authorized use(s) of the product are no longer unapproved (section 564(b)(2)). For example, an EUA issued to allow an unapproved use of an approved product may no longer be needed if that product is later approved by FDA for the use permitted by the EUA.
Saw another good one on the Internet about how to get anti-vaxxers vaccinated:
Step 1 - set aside 15 million Pfizer vaccines
Step 2 - give them a name like Hydroxychlorozinc
Step 3 - give them to veterinarians and alternative medicine doctors
Step 4 - create a viral marketing campaign titled “Hydroxychlorozinc: the secret cure to COVID that the government doesn’t want you to know about.”
Found the FDA China virus report updated in May with the guidelines for emergency authorization that are now not being met.
Emergency Use Authorization for Vaccines to Prevent COVID-19; Guidance for Industry (fda.gov)
For a preventive COVID-19 vaccine to be potentially administered to millions of individuals, including healthy individuals, data adequate to inform an assessment of the vaccine’s benefits and risks and support issuance of an EUA would include not only meeting the prespecified success criteria for the study’s primary efficacy endpoint as described in the guidance for industry entitled “Development and Licensure of Vaccines to Prevent COVID-19” (Ref. 1) (i.e. a point estimate for a placebo-controlled efficacy trial of at least 50%, with a lower bound of the appropriately alpha-adjusted confidence interval around the primary efficacy endpoint point estimate of >30%) but also additional safety and effectiveness data as described below. The timing of interim analyses planned for a Phase 3 study would thus ideally be aligned with the ability of the analyses to meet these criteria.
Pfizer Shot Just 39% Effective Against Delta Infection, But Largely Prevents Severe Illness, Israel Study Suggests (forbes.com)
Irrelevant.
It is more protective against “infection” earlier when your antibodies levels haven’t waned 8 months down the road.
It is still protective against hospitalization and death.
Someone is misleading you because you are keeping your crank out to be yanked.
Since I cruise all kinds of sites for "news" and opinions and the like, I do occasionally come across some, ahem, interesting theories....
One blog has a thread going, surpassing 1,400 comments now, that the sudden FDA approval of the Pfizer vax is a fix designed to deliver some good news to the tanking Biden administration and serve as a distraction to the total boondoggle in Kabul.
Hey! I just report what some folks are saying/posting...:icon_roll:
My neighborhood elementary school has 70 active cases already and 22 percent of students are absent.
There was no reason for our governor to make our schools less safe. Literally nothing gained by brownie points.
I’m so over this crap.
Wonder if there is an element of natural resistance? We were always taught that playing outside and getting a little dirt under your nails was good for you. A little exposure to germs built up the immune system. What percentage of the sick are soy drinking vegans who never learned to ride a bike or build a fort? That would be an interesting study.
I was in the ER yesterday and while there, multiple doctors and nurses made it clear they don't take COVID seriously, even with another patient there in for COVID (they were strict to make him stay in his room, though) and one of the doctors recently returning to duty after having COVID. It was interesting being able to overhear the doctors and nurses opinions on this and other topics, some which make me question their commitment to the Hippocratic Oath.
- COVID is "weak" and "no big deal."
- Skipped steps and made assumptions for care that would have put the patient in worse condition if it weren't caught by another doctor.
- Think some people deserve what's happening to them.
- Wanted to discharge people (without treatment) just so could have easier shift. Or delay treatment to be next shift's problem.
Unvaxxed people are 29 times more likely to be hospitalized with Covid 19 than those that are vaxxed.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnb...ith-covid.html
If you are fortunate enough to live in the US where you have vaccine access, it is really dumb not to get it.
I don't think they actually did it, they just wanted to for the COVID patient (since "day one" and "caught early" and "it's fine") and others.
I should add/clarify that this was a VA Hospital, so it's even less likely they did nothing... or, just as likely they did the way some other VAs are ran throughout the country have been.
More on the FDA rushing its decision....
There has always been an outside advisory committee plus a public comment period before any jab authorization process is complete. This has been standard operating procedure for years.
In the FDA's own report, it states there is "nothing concerning" that required those standard steps to be taken here. Except there is more concern and controversy over these experimental gene therapies than against all other approvals combined in recent history.
Clear coverup by the FDA that goes against all public health concerns. More convinced than I was Monday that the FDA needs to be disbanded and an independent public agency not under the thumb of the feds needs to replace it.
I am on the Board of Directors for the NRMC, we have a board meeting this afternoon. Present will be department heads who make reports and answer questions from the board. The NRMC has been on the cutting edge, a leader in the fight against the China virus since this all began. The hospital received a special award recently, named as one of the best rural facilities in the nation. I am going to ask some tough questions of the staff. I will include references to some of this, especially toward the attitude represented in your post. What hospital is that? Name it.
Just read your last post, it is a VA Hospital. Where?
Houston ISD, which has a mask mandate in defiance of the governor, has 296 student COVID cases among its 196,000 students.
But, yeah, you just keep believing mask mandates don’t make a difference.
Also...we had 8 patients in ICU with China Virus var: Delta. Various ages, youngest was 42. Five of them died. All unvaxxed. Other three, also unvaxxed, appeared to have beaten it and will survive. NRMC has created a "progressive care center" to serve as an overflow for ICU, those patients still needing intensive care, but are out of imminent danger.
This is real, folks.
That's great for my daughter who we just moved to Choudrant two weeks ago and is a highly trained ICU/Covid Nurse with 2 years experience doing that at Parkland here in Dallas. :D She will be looking for a job once they settle in their new home, but I don't think these numbers are sustainable long term..
The anticipation is these types of numbers will go away. At least hospital administrations hope so! Please note these high paying jobs are contract status, the nurse is an independent contractor, no retirement, no benefits. Also, in most cases nurses are given a heavier patient load. Of course some hospitals are paying signing bonuses and raising hourly pay rates to attract/keep good nurses, but those are more like $80/hour rates. Still very good.
We lost two experienced nurses, supervisors, to this arms race. Both submitted resignations yesterday. One gave his final report to the board of directors yesterday and then said his thanks and goodbyes. He's heading to Dallas, the other to Shreveport.
Yeah.. my daughter while she would like a signing bonus, I don't think she is going to do it because she doesn't want to be under a long-term contract anymore. She had a 2 year one at Parkland and the work environment was not good. She loves what she does, but if the admin and leadership are not up to the task and life is hell, she wants to be able to jump ship.. She started out in Neuro-ICU, then went to Covid Units, then back to ICU and was a charge nurse in both Covid and ICU units.

More evidence that the Chicoms are indeed working on biological weapons at Wuhan Lab and elsewhere, and that "COVID-19" was released from that lab. It might have been, and probably was, an accident but as a result the Chicoms are encouraged to continue developing such viruses and weaponizing them.
Just think what would happen if some nation developed a killer virus, and vaccines against it. They could vax their army and all political leaders, industrial leaders, and as many of their peasant population they deemed necessary then release the virus on the world. They would survive, the world would be devastated.
The infamous tyrant and military leader Timur, a Mongol by birth and culture who adopted radical Islam since he found it helped him build a brutal army, once "used" biologicals to his advantage. The Black Plague began where most, if not all, such pandemics begin, in Asia and swept across the continent into Europe. Timur was smart enough to seize the opportunities presented. First he took his 50,000-man army into the remote wilderness and lived in isolation while his spies and scouts ventured out to monitor the progress of the plague. When they reported that a kingdom and its army had been wrecked by the disease, greatly weakened, Timur would launch an attack and conquer it. He did this for years and followed the spread of the plague into eastern Europe, always keeping his distance and closely controlling the comings and goings of people, including his scouts, invoking a quarantine system so as to keep the plaque from infecting his own army. Timur did not create the Black Plaque nor control its spread, but he did use it to his military advantage. The Chicoms are planning to do the same thing.
Literally, the only conclusion that the intelligence community could draw was that it was NOT the result of a bioweapons program.
How can you get things so backwards?
Veteran dies of treatable pancreatitis in Houston because he couldn’t get an ICU bed.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-u...klToz20HWwO2Fc
Currently there are 102 people waiting on ICU beds in the area…
So this is where the risk that people that want to play the anti-vaxx and anti-mask games impacts everyone else.
As I mentioned our small, rural hospital, the NRMC is not making excuses nor feeling sorry for itself, but instead is doing what it can to be proactive. They have created a 6-bed "progressive care center" to serve as an overflow for the 10-bed ICU. It is playing "musical chairs" with 16 beds, instead of 10, and it is NOT a perfect solution, but at least they are frickin' THINKING and TRYING!
Meanwhile the party animals were at it again yesterday, no less than 25 idiots getting drunk, sharing food...if this virus is so contagious how is it possible after more than 18 months of this behavior only 2 have tested positive, with zero symptoms, and they all laughed about it, even posting comments on Facebook. There is a core of these morons who almost always are there and another 25-30 others who show up now and then. A handful of them have admitted to being vaxxed, recently, only because their jobs depended on it. But for months prior they too, unvaxxed, were part of the partiers.
I honestly don't get it. Yes, this is a group of about 50 but their behavior has not only been "less than desirable" it has been wreckless! About 17% of Louisianians have tested positive, and that is just those who got tested. I am sure many, many more are/have been positive but never got tested. I have seen these folks out in public, interacting with others, hugs & kisses, no masks, no precautions at all. No social distancing for sure!
As a student of REAL science, I know observation is a legit method to gather data/information. I hear the militant "wear your mask, murderers!" types who are afraid of their own shadow...unless it is masked too. I read articles about vax vs. unvaxxed, the effectiveness of masks (or not), and then I observe this bunch. Hmmm, statistically, several of this "group of 50+" should have died from the China Virus and many more been hospitalized. Yet...nothing.
