Agreed. Makes so much sense.
Re: The O.K. "Buddy" Davis Pressbox (former Demolition Thread)
Coca Cola has a strong relationship with Georgia Tech. There are a lot of higher-up Jacket alumni at Coke, and it's in Atlanta, etc. The fact that a Fortune 500 company with close ties to Tech hasn't already partnered with us means someone has dropped the ball.

Pretty sure centurylink won't happen.

While we're dreaming.

Would truly be disappointed to see Tech throw Coach Aillet's name away. The stadium was named in his honor because his life and legacy are time-tested, and stand to represent all of the best of what Louisiana Tech is about. He gave years of his life, not only to Tech football, but to the University as a whole. Beyond being a winning coach, he was a truly great man. Frankly, I have always been grateful that Tech, to this point, has not been willing to diminish the memory of a man who has meant so much to our University, and shaped so many lives, for the sake of the dollar. Whatever would be given to take our beloved coach's name off his stadium would, as all money does, run out. However, all that Coach Aillet's life represents will not. Unless, of course, we choose allow it to happen.

I agree. CenturyLink Field at Joe Aillet Stadium.
Re: The O.K. "Buddy" Davis Pressbox (former Demolition Thread)
Even though doubtful it ever happens, maybe they could do similar to techs baseball and use Centurylink at Joe Aillet Stadium. It doesn't really roll off the tongue though lol.

They can't give us athletic money w/out giving an equal amount to nlulm.
As of now we get more than nlulm because we handle our business and have "more fitting" places for them to donate to.
That sleeping dawg won't be bothered.

ATTENTION North Louisiana folks:.....You don't have to continue doing things the same 'ole way they've always been done. Just because someone USED to donate equally to LA Tech and ULM, it doesn't mean this absurdity must continue. It's called JUSTIFYING your request. I could easily argue that LA Tech's Value Prop is MUCH stronger than that offered by ULM (which is literally a joke in FBS football circles). How many high quality companies want their name tied to a laughing stock in any circles?
Re: The O.K. "Buddy" Davis Pressbox (former Demolition Thread)
I really don't like naming rights to college stadiums/fields. Naming them after distinguished coaches, players or even rich alumni, yes. But on the other hand if we do it let's get a pile of money. We could end up like the I-Bowl with some wimpy sponsor who really wouldn't support us and would drop us like a hot potato if they perceived they weren't getting enough exposure.

Louisiana politics have never made sense. HD are you forgetting we have three division 1 universities in NE La serving a population of under 250K people? The absurdity will continue as long as we have a so many dollars wasted on the political troughs known as universities.

This unfortunately is the case. The only thing that would improve our higher education fiasco is shuttering 3-6 universities. The problem is we exist on fear instead of doing what is right for long term growth in Louisiana. Our higher education isn't sustainable for the long haul and it will only get worse.
A poor state overfunding too many universities vs population is a set up for failure.
