Ex-NFL player calls Trump America’s ‘first black president’ at White House



A former NFL player called President Trump the "first black president," during a Black History Month roundtable in the White House Cabinet Room on Thursday.
The affair largely involved the black leaders in attendance praising the president as Trump touted his record -- while taking shots at the media. The player who made the comment was Jack Brewer, a former NFL safety who played college ball at Southern Methodist University before embarking a five-year journeyman pro career. Brewer is also an ordained minister, a professor at Fordham University and a vocal pro-Trump booster on social media.

"I've got to say this because it's Black History Month. Man, you're the first black president," Brewer said as the event was winding down.

Trump, obviously, is white and is not the first black president. Former President Barack Obama earned that distinction in history after his 2008 election to the office.
Brewer, however, was likely calling back to the "first black president" nickname given to former President Bill Clinton after novelist Toni Morrison called him that in the New Yorker in 1998, citing Clinton's upbringing and other characteristics.
Also at the roundtable were pro-Trump online personalities Diamond and Silk, Martin Luther King Jr.'s niece Alveda King and several others.
Silk, just before Brewer's comment, had told the president she sees it as imperative that black voters, who only supported Trump at an 8 percent clip in 2016, vote Trump in 2020.
"You did ask four years ago, 'what the hell do we have to lose?'" she said, citing Trump's 2016 campaign pitch to African-Americans. "But if we don't vote right this time, we're going to have a hell of a whole lot to lose."
Silk continued, repeating a line she and Diamond use in their online videos: "Make sure you vote right so you won't get left."

Not surprising...especially since he was sinking his own fortune into his campaign.

Super Tuesday is going to be fascinating to watch. Bloomberg is not the superstar he thought he was and Pete and Warren are fizzling. Bloomberg being in the race may just tilt more delegates to Sanders by watering down the "alleged" moderate vote, so if Biden can't follow up his good fortune and score big on Tuesday he may find it difficult to get funding going forward.

Since Bloomberg is self funded, he may well be the only one that doesn't have to drop out and will become the only alternative to Bernie in a brokered convention.

Steyer spent $24 million in South Carolina, mostly buying ads. That money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Well, Creepy Joe finally won a primary. This is his third attempt running for POTUS, and his first ever win. He better enjoy it the next couple of days, because...

Pocahontas and Fudge Packer are done. Amy K. is done as well. Dems showing their diversity by advancing three, old white dudes! :laugh: Actually, we can call it the "B, B & B" show...Bernie, Biden & Bloomberg!

I suppose you guys missed Fareed Zakaria’s dismantling of Bernie’s Nordic socialism agenda today. Key points is that the US tax system is way more progressive than than that of the Nordic countries (where your marginal tax rate starting at $65k would be 55%) and a much more anti-regulatory environment (what is called “flexicurity”) to fund a robust social safety net.

Fudge Packer has dropped out! Well...who do you turn to now, Goosey? You're running out of candidates. Of course, we all know you're really supporting Comrade Bernie.

Your homophobia aside, I will support the non-Trump option. Even if it is the socialist, though he would be last choice.

Why not vote for a 3rd Party then? There'll probably be a dozen or so other choices. But you say Comrade Bernie is your last choice, so that begs the question, where now?

The suffix “phobia” means fear OR aversion. It doesn’t require both.

Can you lack a phobia, but still disapprove of the lifestyle? Do Libs consider that to be under the phobia umbrella?
