When do speed limit signs come into effect - when you see them, or when you pass them?

I think technically when you pass them, but I've been ticketed when I passed a "reduced speed ahead" sign. It was a small-town thing.

What gets me about the asparagus is that there are apparently enough people buying it to support the industry. Just makes no sense to me at all. And unfortunately that was the only way I remember being served asparagus as a kid. I was an adult before I learned that I actually like asparagus--as long as it is fresh (and still crunchy when served).
Just had some canned asparagus with dinner. It was wonderful.

Blue Runners are the best canned beans available.

The new speed limit starts where the sign stands. By the time you get to the sign, you're subject to the new limit.

In Baskin, you'd better start slowing down when the "Reduce Speed Ahead" sign comes into view. NOT when you get to it or actually read it, but when you can see the sign.
Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
In Dry Prong and Dodson, you'd better start slowing down just because you know the town is there. The good news is that Dry Prong "has a deal for college students" in that you can mail the city a check and it won't show up on your record.

this whole side of town was flooded, and clear creek was still backed way up yesterday afternoon. is there some new construction in league city that has restricted the channel or something?

I've been good ever since they opened the Sonic. I'm usually slowing down to make a drink stop anyway, so I've had no problem keeping the speed limit. :icon_wink:
