Matt Kubik, that was the name I was looking for. If Higgens can mirror the ball control of Kubik, we will be fine. Kubik always seemed to pull a play out when we needed it most yet minimize turnovers.

One of the memorable Kubik performance was Tech vs Fresno 2005. Fresno State was ranked #23 and we dominated them on their Senior Night. Kubik did a great job. He threw a nice long ball in that game.

One of them was DJ Banks. W/out looking there was probably a more consistent WR than DJ.
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
Andrew Guillot was the most productive for the first half of the season, but got hurt and missed the second half of the season. A true Freshman became the most productive receiver by the end of the season (Trent Taylor).

I was thinking Guillot. Didn't we have to move a guy from DL to play center too? I mean, Guillot was a man's man and a good college football story of perseverance but I'm not sure he would get any practice reps on this year's scout team at WR. At center, we have 2 guys who can play it at an all conference level. Higgins has had the benefit of sitting behind a couple of good players and excellent leaders. This ain't the same situation we had the last time he was forced into playing.

Agree. And a HUGE problem in 2013 was that we didn't have a deep-threat receiver. All the receivers were possession-type receivers who couldn't stretch the field. Safeties came up and keyed on Dixon and corners and LBs tackled our receivers shortly after the catch (there was no big-play ability in the passing game). Henderson changed that in 2014 and 2015. Higgins is inheriting a much better OL and much better receivers. His challenge will be between the ears... make the right reads, don't force throws into coverage, it's okay to throw it away and punt, be poised.
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
I think we will be ok at running back. We obviously won't replace a talent like KD, but Scott and Craft have both shown the ability to be great backs. Higgins is the biggest question and a lot rides on how he handles things. I think he will do fine. If he really comes into his own and other pieces fall into place we could have a great season. I'm expecting something around 6-7 wins and another bowl trip and overall successful season depending on what other teams surprise us like southern miss last season. You never know who is going to come from nowhere to make noise. If Higgins plays well it could be us surprising folks.

We go in as a 23pt underdog. Ouch! Vegas usually knows, but Vegas tends to be wrong early in the year.

They have been wrong before, but that is not a good sign. just makes a win even sweeter. We are going undefeated until we don't
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
That WR corp that Higgins played with was one of the worst I've ever seen. I'm serious. Not one guy on that team worried the opposition. Higgins will be much better this year just by having better players alone, that's not even considering how much he learned from Sokol and Driskel, and how much more he has matured as a player since then.

Also in that year I think we were supposed to have a very good transfer QB to help. Higgins should be in a much better situation to compete.
