Whiskey dick teams
If you listened to the post game, you heard some really rotten word salad from our coach.
This Tech team acts like they are tired. IMO, they peaked too early this season. They still make far too many mistakes for a team that's already played 47 games. They'll be lucky to limp out of this regular season 3-3 over the last 6 games.
There probably won't be a regional appearance for the Dawgs this year.
Wild pitches hurt us tonight, Ray double clutching on the throw to 1st could have, and McConnell getting picked off was a 10U mistake. Stolenbase-paloosa with Fincher on the mound doesn’t help.

RUSTON, La. – A three-run answer in the top of the seventh inning proved to be the difference for UTSA as the Roadrunners notched a 7-5 victory over the Bulldogs on Friday night at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

So disappointing.
I told my dad when they announced that Tech was one of the 20 possible places to host that we would choke. I can’t think of a single Tech team in any sport other than Goffs last season that didn’t choke when it counted. It’s hard to get upset about it when you can see it coming from a mile away.
The stadium has been full one time this year. There were a few hundred unoccupied seats last night. No danger of a true sell out.
I noticed something for the first time last night. Tomkins was throwing hard and gutter ball strikes during his warm ups. This wrist band crap is KILLING us. It takes pitchers out of their motions. Tomkins would get set, look at the dugout, then his wrist and you could tell he did not have he called pitch. He was totally lost, but he performance last night was not on him. It was on the pitching coach not having him throw pitches he can throw. Need to s can the wrist band thing.
Yep, top of the 7th kills us again.
Yes, our pitching issues are obvious, but he blamed our offense. Then defended his decision to leave Netterville instead of pinch hitting for him. Same with putting Brantley in, he felt the need to defend what he knew was a screw up. He also should have pinch hit for Corona who was a bad 0-3 at that point. No mention of why our players can't seem to get a bunt down.
We play like we’re punch drunk. If it’s not a talent or baseball fundamentals issue then it’s mental lapses, a simple lack of confidence or even the disbelief in the teammates around them. There’s a lot going wrong with this team right now and has been for a while already. If Burroughs or someone hasn’t remedied it by now, they’re not going to. He also keeps saying something to the effect of ‘we’ve got to get it together’. Da!
This is seriously beginning to look like the best potential team that Tech has ever had that is going to be one of the biggest disappointment teams that Tech has ever had.
Is Goff available? What's he doing now?
Yes, I know he’s still in his early tenure at Tech, but more and more it’s beginning to feel like Burroughs is just a younger, thinner less Cajun version of Simoneaux who couldn’t win in his 12 years, who is only going to get worse the younger his teams get. This is a once in a career team with the collective years of baseball experience on it and coach B can’t figure out or even stumble into how to coach them up to their full potential. Just imagine the next 9-10 years of Tech mediocrity if Burroughs doesn’t figure out how to lead a team through a complete season.
Lane B. has never taken a team into the playoffs as a head coach. Of course, neither has Konkol on the basketball side....
If we don't totally collapse and pull an 0-fer down the stretch, I think Tech has already done enough to slip into the field of 64 as an at-large. If so, it will be Lane B.'s first time. But, I have no expectations other than a quick exit from the NCAAs. Might get lucky and win one, if Fincher or Whorrf get a start and enjoy a good day on the mound. But, 1-2 is the best we can hope for with the lousy pitching staff.
At this point IF Tech does get in to the NCAAs I can’t say that it’ll have been by reason of something specific that Burroughs has done. He hasn’t really adjusted anything other than subbing out a few people at DH or pinch hitting for a few guys who can’t come through when the pressure is on. It seems like right from the start Burroughs has been the guy who just goes with the flow. When it’s good it’s easy, when it’s not good, we’ll that’s baseball and there’s always the inevitability that sooner or later the pendulum of good fortune will swing back in Tech’s favor. The thing now is that the pendulum’s back swing is getting later and later and may not be in Tech’s favor until early in the 2022 season when a few wins don’t matter a whole lot just like they’re mattering less and less right now.
