How long before Coach realizes we don’t have a bunch of Home run hitters on the team anymore? How long before he realizes we have enough team speed to put on the hit and run run or try to bunt for a base hit more than once every six or eight games? Will he ever just put the best eight on defense and leave it? He hasn’t done that since he got here. He tries to play matchups. And that has never worked for us.
USM is proving to be considerably better than Tech in every measure of the game. It’s really quite amazing how they put us in our place more often than not. In hindsight now that they’ve dominated Tech in 2 straight games I’d say their performance Friday night was a shock and awe event. It seems like their bats effectively scared our pitchers and our pitching coach into not throwing strikes for fear they’d launch the ball out of the park and them doing exactly that could be true because they definitely hit the ball better and harder than Tech does. Another observation is all the first strike pitches that Tech watches and then after that we’re at their pitching and pitch call prowess mercy. They’re really good and clever at how they maneuver batters to get them out. I’m pretty sure this watching first pitch strikes is Burroughs’ strategy to try to wear pitchers out. Well it doesn’t work and it only hurts our batters chances of putting the ball in play. The whole Tech team is playing quite poorly in every aspect of the game these days and if Burroughs’ and his assistants prior coaching performances are any indication it’s all going to continue because they’ve proved that they can’t coach the Dawgs out of it. Burroughs is a whatever happens, happens guy who will just wait out this poor playing period no matter how long it takes.
Did you also notice USM has the green light on 3-0. They are flat out aggressive
I really am at a loss for words, except to say… it’s “hit and run”
Yes, sorry, fat fingers got in a hurry
Berch in RF today (.125). It’s crazy that Burroughs has this revolving door of players he keeps plugging in who haven’t played in days or weeks. In a game of repetition where any success builds on itself and failure does the same thing this makes no sense. I guess next game he’ll go back to Drost or Davis in RF with Comeaux at 1st base. Once again the Dawgs begin the game at a disadvantage of team continuity. I guarantee you the team feels this weakness of sensible decision making in their coach and gives them all a sense of doubt and lack of confidence.
This weekend should settle all the RPI angst from a few days ago.
Berch can’t catch the first fly hit towards him which a batter later leads to a run.
And a grand slam.
Tech getting their asses kicked this weekend by their daddy.
Berch pops out bunting with bases loaded and then McLeod watches 3rd strike to end our thread. We just can’t make the big things happen.
Guess it helps to call out the Dawgs because now they’ve scored 11 runs in 2 innings. 12-5
In the post game LB began making excuses regarding our schedule and how difficult it is to set a schedule up. Pretty sure that is a big part of what he is getting paid a pretty good salary for.
We need to beat Lafayette. We may not since they are decent this year. If we go anything less than 4-0 against NSU this week it will say a lot, but I can hear it now (like last year)..."NSU is a good team" or "It's difficult to sweep anybody in four games".
