BTW, I think McCarney will do some good for North Texas. His record looks dismal but he had some real successful seasons at Iowa State. Remember, ISU was a 1-11 team for several years before McCarney took over and got them to five bowl games.
I liked his press conference. He has a strong determined attitude.

It looks like Hugh Freeze has been hired as the new Head Coach at Arkansas State. He was the Offensive Coordinator for Arkansas State in 2010.

The Cajuns will be paying about 400-450K for the head coach. This combined with a raise for the assistants, (already the 3rd highest paid staff in the Belt) is making the job attractive. The indoor practice facility and the planned renovation of Cajun field also sweetens the deal a little. The talent cupboard is also not empty this time as it was when Baldloss left. The formation of the RCAF is already paying dividends in this particular coaching search. Cajun T is keeping us updated at the Cajun Scout Website in case anyone is interested in following the process.
I think they will make a good hire this time. :smash:
All good additions, but don't underestimate the attraction of your recruiting trailers to high school kids.

Who all's interviewing? Jeff Bower is the name that comes to mind as a great candidate if you can get him.

Obviously the biggest sticking point is Leach's "baggage" and lawsuit. Not sure if Donna can overlook that.

Apparently it was enough for Colorado to overlook him, which is a shame because I think he would be a pretty good fit for the program. He might actually have to cool his heels in non-AQ land for a bit to rebuild his reputation. Ridiculous.

I wonder if the prep for the "indoor facility" will be tough? You have to find an 18-wheeler to move one of the two double wide "recruiting trailers" together & then get a can opener to remove two walls. How long would all of that take?

I think Conroy will land on his feet. No inside knowledge, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at ULL.
Speaking the flaming cajuns, local media here has said the they are looking at Georgia Southern's Monken, which I think would be bad for us. He really lit a fire under the Eagles after they sputtered a bit under that guy we almost hired.
Re: 2010-2011 Coaching Carousel
North Texas beat writer is now saying that Hines might be retained after all. The way he and Canales managed the offense at the end of the season he certainly should be.

What about Chuck Petersen?

I don't think he's in the mix with the new coach.

Colorado has hired Jon Embree as their new head coach. He was a 4-year letterman as well as the TE Coach (1993-94, 1999-2000), Defensive Ends Coach (1995-98), and WR/Kickers Coach (2001-2002) at Colorado.

Boise's Petersen mentioned in connection with the Minnesota job. Doubt he takes it, but who knows.
