Maybe it was Hester and the cut off sleeves that pumped them up.

I am sure the team is a bit shell shocked like the fan base. Last year the offense could score on almost every possession. This year, it is more like once a half. I am sure this season has been depressing for them.

The way Rice manhandled us might have been the reason for Hester's tough guy gimmick. Army, North Texas, and Rice pounded us into submission.

North Texas didn't. They only had 165 yards rushing and 3.8 yards per carry. Army and Rice both had over 400 yards rushing on us.

In the second half of that game, they ran the ball down our throats. I remember not being able to get off the field.

And Tulane. We were pounded into submission by all 4 schools: Tulane, Rice, Army, & UNT.

Quit being so naive. Players are humans. Without proper guidance and discipline, they will slack off in practice, come to a game mentally unprepared to do their job, lose focus, or get frustrated and stop giving 100%. Good motivators keep it from happening.
