In my first years at Tech, girls could NOT smoke in the Tonk. It wasn't lady like!!! Girls had to wear dresses or skirts except in Gym class. Guys had to wear slacks or dress pants with a button down shirt. No sneakers allowed. Guys couldn't hold hands with a girl on campus.
So, do any of you remember how the Tonk got its name?????

Before my time. My oldest sister graduated in '42 and it was "The Tonk" then. Another hang out (not on campus) was the Kennel.
