Didn't Johnny's have a restaurant or two in Baton Rouge back in the 80's before they almost went bankrupt. I know they had one in Pensacola for a while if I remember correctly. They closed a lot of their out of town (Northeast LA area) stores due to some form of financial problems in the late 80's or early 90's if I have my facts right.

It's been a while, so forgive an ole man...Does Johnny's still make their muffalettas? I ate many a one back in the day when the original location (I think) was behind the TKE house, not far from the Baptist Student Union.

It was across the side street from Bogart. And I agree that they were good but I'm not sure if they still make them.

They closed one in the late 80s for sure, way out of state in El Dorado, AR. It was in the SW corner of the "mall" parking lot.

Yup, they demolish the old Johnny's building in El Dorado around 1988 and built a Shoney's. Shoney's went out of business in the late 90's. Someone bought the building and it's a Chinese buffet.

Rumor has it, Johnny's is coming back to El Dorado at the end of the year.

Cushino's muffalettas were also pretty good...a few years back that is. About twenty paces off campus too.:D

Johnny's didn't have Muffalettas until they bought that Cushino's location . . . and the recipe.
