You have an excellent memory. I was around back then in Shreveport and saw all that. But, I sure don't remember that much detail. What Schools did you attend? I went to Judson, Lakeshore Jr. High, and Fair Park.

I grew up in Coushatta. We didn't have much else to do there but watch TV. I have always had a good memory. Not photographic, but good. I guess when I get alzheimers and lose it I will really be in trouble.

Re: If you want a thread to die
Hope you're having a great week! Here's some motivation to keep us going. So take a quick read...
An elderly carpenter was due to retire.
He told his employer of his plans to leave the business and start a life of leisure with his wife and extended family.
He would miss the money, but the time was right and he was ready to hang up his hammer.
His boss was disappointed as the carpenter had been a loyal and diligent worker for many years, so he was sad to see him go.
He asked for one last favour, requesting that the carpenter could build one last house before retiring.
The tradesman agreed, but it was soon clear that his heart wasn't in it.
He took shortcuts, used inferior materials and put in a half-hearted effort.
In the end the final product was well short of his usual standards, a disappointing way to end his career.
When the job was finished, the employer came to inspect the work. After taking a look around, he handed the keys to the carpenter and said, "This is your house, it's my gift to you."
The carpenter was shocked and embarrassed.
If only he had known, he would have made sure that everything was perfect.
If he had known the consequences, he would have demanded excellence from himself.
We're not that different.
We go about our business, working as we see fit.
Some with passion, some without caring.
Some with excellence, some with low standards.
Some with diligence, some without effort.
We are all in the process of building our own lives.
If you're not happy with what you see, perhaps it's a direct consequence of what you've been building over the years.
Build wisely!
Every time you walk into the gym or train outside or go into work or spend time with your family are you truly giving it your all? Are you trying to build the best possible version of yourself and become better than you were each day? Many times people will give half-hearted efforts and when they get no results or things have not changed they blame others when the only person they should be blaming is themselves. This week focus on giving it all you have in training and other aspects of your life. Watch how it will become easier and easier and you will see the fruits of your labor.

Re: If you want a thread to die
The tribal wisdom of the Plains Indians, passed on from generation to generation, says that: "When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount." However, in government (and academia) more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:
1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
4. Arranging to visit other countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.
5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.
6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living impaired.
7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.
8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.
9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse's performance.
10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.
11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.
12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.
And, of course ...
13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.:)

DG it all has to do with 70TECHGRAD because this thread centers around him. There is no social value in this thread except to say that it is a distraction and a relief of our virtual day to day activities on this forum. It’s just merely a completely different line of thought or action…in other words a tangent whereby we can discuss something other than what the thread was intended. Here let me give you a better explanation:
In geometry, the tangent line (or simply tangent) to a plane curve at a given point is the straight line that "just touches" the curve at that point. Informally, it is a line through a pair of infinitely close points on the curve. More precisely, a straight line is said to be a tangent of a curve y = f(x) at a point x = c on the curve if the line passes through the point (c, f(c)) on the curve and has slope f'(c) where f' is the derivative of f. A similar definition applies to space curves and curves in n-dimensional Euclidean space.
As it passes through the point where the tangent line and the curve meet, called the point of tangency, the tangent line is "going in the same direction" as the curve, and is thus the best straight-line approximation to the curve at that point.
Similarly, the tangent plane to a surface at a given point is the plane that "just touches" the surface at that point. The concept of a tangent is one of the most fundamental notions in differential geometry and has been extensively generalized.
The word tangent comes from the Latin tangere, to touch...
Therefore 70TECHGRAD touches all of us.
I hope this clarified your question!

Re: If you want a thread to die
It is a thread that reflects where just about every other thread ends up (except for BTE:D), except it doesn't end, or hopefully drag on as a mine is bigger argument if you don't mind.
Enjoy life, take a break from seriousness, laugh at yourself and us other idiots, or make a valid well thought out post. But try not be so judgmental. Let others be themselves. It is what makes America a great country (within). Ya gotta join in, not try to rule.
So, what's on your mind? Some Louisiana Tech sport? Go with it.

Love that math.
My son learned this in his 9th grade geometry class last year. I know cause I tutor him on his homework every night, not because he particularly needs it, but because I enjoy solving the math problems so much. Sometimes, I'll impatiently do his math homework before he can get to it. :)
Of course, being Plano and needing to be harder than necessary, they don't just give the points as a simple constant, ie (2,3) or (1,9). They have to weave algebra within the geometry. So, points and angles are almost always given as, pt=(x2-5x+6,x(x+1)) and angle=((x**2)-4) degrees.
Very simple example:
Angles A and B are complementary angles. Angle A=x**2-4x+5 and Angle B=-x+1. Solve for the angles.
Angle A + B = 90. ==> (x**2+4x+41) + (-3x+43) = 90 ==> x**2+x+84=90 ==> x**2+x-6=0 ==> (x+3)(x-2)=0 ==> x=2,-3 ==> x=2 ==> A=57, B=37
Of course, algebra is nothing more than finding the area within a rectangle.
length = x+1, width = x+2 ==> area = (x+1)(x+2) ==> area=x**2+3x+2 ==> x**2+3x+(2-area)=0

Mash them all up and see if it works...just need to know how much of each to put in to suit your taste! Go for it! Sounds like an interesting combination. If you mix Kellogg's Corn Flakes and ice cream, it tastes like an ice cream cone. :)

I've been experimenting with a thick piece (preemptive twss) of bacon coated in a crust of Cap'n Crunch crumbs. Once that's done, I'll drizzle a Dr Pepper reduction sauce over the whole thing. But getting the crumbs to adhere to the bacon has proven difficult.
Combining the three flavors was my 8yo's idea a while back. One Saturday morning he abruptly declared (as 8yo's will often do) that those were the three best foods ever. When I agreed wholeheartedly, he suggested we find a way to prepare them all together.

Lotsudo, you get it. You understand the purpose of this thread. Therefore, you are being offered the position of fourth in command of this thread. There is no pay or benefits. But, you can be part of a team that makes this thread the one with more posts than any other active thread on BB&B. That accomplishment will depend on how you look at it and if you want the opportunity to have something that is part yours. This can be your canvas.

Marinate the bacon in DP -
Crush the Capn Crunch into a meal -
Coat the marinated bacon in the CC meal and then deep fry (not pan fry) -
Then was down with a DP

Re: If you want a thread to die
Been a "ruff" week. With all that is going on in life, and getting on this board when all this news is breaking, just doing well to get caught up. I've been just overwhelmed. :D
So far as this board, on the one hand, I really believe Tech athletics is about to turn the corner back to good times. I think we've paid our dues, so to speak, and the character and conscience of the leadership is good.
The other "hand" is the amazement of what goes on in this forum. I have spent too much time reading the "Spoon" thread. That is very revealing of our culture today. I haven't posted there but once ("How about someone with Spoon's vigor and passion, Leon B.' knowledge and determination, B.L.S's attitude and character?"), because it would serve no purpose, there, to get to the real issue. It is just saddening to think of how people who have not experienced God can be so blind, and equally concerning are those who profess to know him but present Him as "their Idol," how they define Him and not necessarily the way He reveals Himself: loving, holy and just. We tend to leave off the part we struggle with. I'm not in the mood to get yelled at.:D
-

Another Union division set out from LR to take Shreveport. Prior to that campaign, Camden had been a bustling port and the second largest city in Arkansas. A series of battles in south Arkansas eventually repulsed the Union advance, but the region's male population was decimated and the city never recovered.

Pleasant Hill. home of the famous Benton Johnson.
-
Re: If you want a thread to die
I think Benton's great Grandfather was one of the chief defenders. (Again, revisionist history) says Abner B. Johnson ran out of ammo and began repelling the invaders with cow manure. That was what turned the tide. Hey, you read this on the web. Gotta be true!:icon_wink:

Whew what a respite from Women's Basketball - Leon Barmore's Legacy!
Some of those folks need to get a life!

Re: If you want a thread to die
One thing I learned after flying jets for 20 plus years in the Air Force the philosophy was if you can't eat it, fly it, or f*** it...it wasn't critical!

Doc...I am actually looking forward to watching the girls again. Go Ladies! As a matter of fact, I'm trying to convince a 6'-0' eighth-grader and her parents here in Abilene to consider TECH. Baylor and Texas Tech have already taken an interest in her.

Although you have to read it first to determine who the fool is or the fooler…I guess whoever responds to it is the fool! Kinda a like reading Texas Monthly on the shitter and making a comment that there are more advertisements in the magazine from the other 49 states than Texas alone then calling one of the resorts in North Carolina advertising in the magazine to make reservations and asking for a good place to eat the Barbecue.

Probably not a good example.
Since NC bbq > TX bbq, your subject's actions are totally justifiable.

Lots of reenactors at Pleasant Hill today. More cannon fire than usual. I enjoyed it. :)

Not much going on tonight (Sunday). I guess everyone is watching the Country Music Awards. :)

Re: If you want a thread to die
Do you remember the famous ABC radio commentator Paul Harvey? Millions of Americans listened to his programs which were broadcast over 1,200 radio stations nationwide. When you listen to this, remember the commentary was broadcast 47 years ago on April 3, 1965.It's short...less than three minutes. You will beamazed.

Many of their fans are already "fully enhanced" by the time they enter the stadium.

Total drunken brawl = total enhancement??
Yes, I can see it, for the krew of Ragu, et al. Now, even the ones who can find there way into the stadium.

Re: If you want a thread to die
I thought all LSU fans were enhanced before they got to the stadium!!!! Why do they need further enhancement??? They won't be able to find their way home or know who won! :)

Let's see if Skip can keep it that way, and not by setting records for futility.
