Today is Save Your Hearing Day!
Tomorrow is Flip a Coin Day!
92 days til "Game Day"!!! Go Dawgs...JFW!!!!:)
I just watched an interesting story on the National News. It was about a new sport...FOOTGOLF. A size 5 soccer ball is used. No clubs needed...you KICK the ball. The game is played on a golf course. Same rules apply as in golf. The holes are larger to accommodate the soccer ball. It is becoming popular, since no expensive equipment is needed...just a size 5 soccer ball!
Footgolf looks like a lot of fun for all ages!:)
June 1 happy birthday to Morgan Freeman ((77).
Our other birthday boy is 80. He may be getting love letters from Bernadine. I hope my kayaking trip to Missouri this week will not find me on a moody river but that we'll all have a "wonderful time up there." The younger BBBers might have trouble with this one' but stand pat and maybe we can find some younger ones this next week.
And, THANKS TO THIS THREAD, BTE thread is being tended to regularly and my friend Dawg80 is even making productive posts!!!:D But since this thread is the "straw that stirs the drink." IT IS KING!!! Excellent work 70TECHGRAD. ps HoustonTechsan, to which 70's-80's baseball star does the quote "straw that stirs the drink" refer? Not his birthday.
91 days til "Game Day"!!! Go Dawgs...JFW!!!!:)
Yep...this thread is prompting pics of women to be posted daily on BTE II!
Yesterday was What You Think Upon Grows Day!
Today is Heimlich Maneuver Day!

Well, it is time to get some shuteye! Like Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day." And per Jimmy Durante, "Good night Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are."
Yesterday was Say Something Nice Day!
Tomorrow is Repeat Day!
Today, June 2 in history:Today's birthday gal is is 77 and became famous for her passion and kissable, some would even say "hot" lips in a 1970 movie set in the Korean War.
- The Vandals sacked Rome in 455. I like it even better when the Dawgs sacked the Vandals!!
- The "Intolerable Acts" passed in 1774 allowed governors in colonial America to house British soldiers in uninhabited houses, outhouses, barns, or other buildings if suitable quarters not provided, and helped spur on our call for independence. The latest "intolerable act" by a legislative body is giving tax money to a shoddily run bowl.
- Dead Poets Society premiered in 1989. It's in my top 2 - 3 movies of all time. The "Dead Conference Society" premiers anytime Karl Benson is hired as a commissioner.:D
And, from a previous post, "the straw that stirs the drink" (besides 70TECHGRAD) was actually also "Mr. October," Reggie Jackson!
Sportdawg and Russdawg.....keep up the good work!!:)
I think I got my count wrong the other day. It is a few hours less than 89 days til "Game Day"!!! Go Dawgs...JFW!!!!:)
Yesterday was National Bubba Day!
Today is Repeat Day!
Tomorrow is Hug Your Cat Day!
Today's birthday boy (June 3) was an American political figure who lived from 1808 until 1889. His first name comes from our third US President, and his last name is that of a Louisiana Governor/singer. His birthday is a state holiday in Alabama only, celebrated the first Monday in June, and yesterday 30,000 Alabama state employees got the day off. All but "essential personnel." (Question: If Sun Belch conference staff were all off but "essential emloyyees" would Benson be there?)
Also born on June 3 was Dr. Charles Drew African American surgeon who created the first blood bank, which saved thousands of lives during World War II. Without his revolutionary work the American Red Cross Blood Bank would never exist. He protested against the practice of racial segregation in the donation of blood, as it lacked scientific foundation, and he was fired because of it. Dr. Drew passed away in 1950.
This date in trivia history, June 3:
The PC police were slapped!! Ya gotta love it!!! Dickinson, North Dakota High School's mascot is the "Midgets." The issue of changing the mascot was brought to a vote on June 3, 1997, and was voted down by residents approximately 4 - 1. The school board had voted to drop the school nickname and mascot in the summer of 1996. Before a replacement mascot could be found, a public outcry led to the recall of three board members in November of that year.
And then Gov. Bill Clinton wearing dark sunglasses in 1992 on the Arsenio Hall Show played the sexaphone. Er, saxophone.
"It was the 3rd of June, another sleepy, dusty delta day. I was out chopping cotton and my brother was baling hay"........ A day that will live in infamy.
And Billy Joe McCallister jumped off the Tallahachee bridge.
This day in history, June 4, 1783, the Montgolfier brothers first publicly demonstrated their invention the hot-air balloon, which did not carry any passengers, over Annonay, France. Today most demonstrations of hot-air bags of wind are democrats!!:D
No interesting birthdays today, but from today's radio a few things you've never heard anybody say (I amended one of them):
- Thanks for fixing the computer, grandma,.
- I shoulda had more shots of tequila last night.
- Yeah, I've got that song on my ipod, but I like the Glee version better.
- I'm worried I may not be watching enough of the 'housewives" shows.
- I'm the head fact checker for Al Sharpton.
- We're so luck to have Missy running our local bowl. (I have gotten to know two of their staff somewhat and they are quality, nice, good guys. If they were the "face" of the bowl I'd join, recruit others, really get involved. I've got to tone it down some out of respect for those I've gotten to know).
Yesterday was Repeat Day!
Today is Old Maid Day!
Tomorrow is National Gingerbread Day!
On this day in History in 1919Congress approved the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing citizens the right to vote regardless of their gender and sent it to the states for ratification. (Women got the right to vote.)

When celebrating his birthday today our birthday boy will probably say:
"It's awesome baby!!"
And maybe
"Can you believe it? I'm livin' the dream baby!!!"
He turns 75 today, born in 1939, coached at the University of Detroit and the Detriot pistons. He initially didn't want a tv broadcasting job and didn't feel quailfied, but ESPN told him "you have a quality we can't teach."
Happy birthday to the highly quotable Dick Vitale.

Today's birthday boys are fading politicians:
Bobby Jindal is 43, going nowhere.
Eliot Spitzer is 55. His fling cost him 7.5 million after tax lump sum, 5th Ave residence, living expenses, $240K annual spousal support.
John Edwards is 61. He makes Bill Clinton look sleazy.
Let's see how this works!
Today is National Iced Tea Day! Uncle Si should be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!! Duck Dynasty starts their new season tomorrow night.
A PBS mind in an MTV world?
Keep calm and don't forget to be awesome.
Does it disappoint you when liar's pants don't catch on fire?
When I was young, I always wanted to be older, but, this isn't what I expected.
If a man speaks in the woods and no woman is around, is he still wrong?
:D:D:DSMILE! It makes people wonder what you are up to.:D:D:D
I have found that my level of maturity changes depending on who I'm with. On this board, I feel like a kid again!

Great to have my computer back, and a little spare time. Hi 70. So you've been having a lil' puter prob too? Mine died, has a new brain (hard drive- I'm thinkin' so that's the problem:D).

Yep. Been having puter problems. AVG was giving me trouble, so I uninstalled it and installed AVAST. That slowed everything down. So, I uninstalled AVAST and reinstalled AVG. But, it still takes forever to login and do any posting on BB&B. I don't have any problems on other sites. I'm glad to see OLDBLUE back. Russdawg and sportdawg have gone above and beyond the call of duty to keep this thread going!!!!
I think it is just terrible and disgusting how everyone has treated Lance Armstrong, especially after what he achieved, winning 7 Tour deFrance races, while on drugs. When I was on drugs, I couldn't even find my f-ing bike.
