Where most of his wounds were self-inflicted!
Regardless, governing is not the same as campaigning. If he's still campaigning, then he adapted to the swamp real quick.

He is just being....Donald Trump! He isn't campaigning or adapting or anything else. He is just being himself.
Wouldn't matter if Ted Cruz or Mitt Romney or Rick Perry or Marco Rubio had won, the war from the left would be the same (look what they did to McCain when he ran and they went from loving him to ridiculing him and calling him dangerous). The only difference is that those folks would not fight back at all, which is also why none of them ever became president.
Hey, some of the stuff he does makes me cringe, and most of it comes out via tweet. But at least he realizes none of these folks are really his friends (even though they may act like it when they are around him), and that is something most republicans fail to realize.
Hillary was supposed to win. That bothers some "republicans" or non democrats more than it bothers socialist democrats.
Trump is mentally unfit for the job. That is why a lot of us "never-Hillaryers" violated our sacred principle last year.
Yes I would not approach the criticism from a pair of second rate cable show hosts the way Trump did. But I have learned that what I think is not working in his favor often turns out to be the opposite.
My neighbor used to tell me that GWB was stupid and you could see it from the way he talked. My reply was "Yes! He is stupid like a fox."
Hey, I don't condone the actions. I'm just saying, he can play their game with "mastery." They think they are sinking his ship, but they are destroying their own.
Personally, I wish we'd all take wisdom seriously: "Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him," and "Answer a fool as his folly deserves, lest he be 'wise in his own eyes'." {Prov 26: 4,5}
It's sorta like the way we attack trolls, right?:D
