Have a green dot. Higgins' INTs worry me, but you make a good point. He threw 2 against Southern last year that were essentially meaningless. The game was well in hand by the time he and the other 2s hit the field. His 2013 INTs, to me, were *mostly* a product of him being thrown into the proverbial fire, a really weak WR group, and an arguably weaker OL. He was running for his life on half of his dropbacks. Didn't help that KD was banged up for the first half of 2013 either.
The more I think about it, I'm not sure many, if any, RS FR quarterback could've really done a whole lot with the offense we had in 2013...
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
I for one am excited that we have a SR QB that has seen the office now for 3 years. You can't say he'll be like 2013. He was a FR QB being asked to lead the Bad News Bears. He's had 2 years to watch and learn from 2 very good QB's. He is athletic enough to make plays with his feet. While not having a rocket, he has enough arm to make all the throws. With an experienced line and one of the best overall receiving corps we've had in some time, he doesn't have to have the mindset of "I have to win the game." He needs to limit mistakes and bone headed plays and I think he'll have a very good year.

He did great as a backup at the NO Bowl. 106 yd on 4 carries. He's probably the shortest back I've seen at Tech at somewhere at 5-6 or 5-7. He's pretty compact and strong reminds me of Ryan Moats.
Bobby Ray Tell about that same size.

On a REAL good day, I don't know if BRT was that big. He had legs like tree trunks though! Love that we'll have some more members of the Golden Tornado wearing red and blue this fall.

Oh man.....look at that crowd. I miss the WAC. The WAC had MUCH better football than CUSA. But mostly, I just miss beating the snot out of Fresno. Sigh.........http://emojipedia-us.s3.amazonaws.co...11f12ef2b8.png

My bad. That one was at Fresno. I think they were maybe in the top 20 when we beat them in Ruston??

Yes, I believe they were ranked 17th in the Ruston Game.

And Pat Hill came into our locker room post game and "congratulated" us on a great victory. Big Nell's ass should have been fired on the spot for allowing that.
WWJRD?
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
Some 4 or 5 transfers will make significant impact to the team, how about any Freshman that could have the imediat possibility of doing the same?
Our WIN at Ark. Sept.3rd is going to kick off a great year of BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
I hope I am wrong, but we know who Ryan Higgins is. I get the fact that he is now a senior, but Holtz would not have gone outside of the program two years in a row if he thought Ryan was the guy that was going to lead our team to victory! We just need to be honest with ourselves and know what we have. Ryan can lead this team to max 8 wins and that is if he is playing out of his mind. He has no deep ball (I hope first play of the Arky game he throws an 80 yard TD and y'all can make me eat my words).
The spring game was a great example. First drive, short passes, drove straight down the field and scored. Second drive, tried a deep ball, terrible pass...INT. He did not throw another deep ball until the second half and it to was nowhere near the receiver. I do not remember seeing him throw another deep ball in the game.
Also, you cannot say the two INTs against Southern were meaningless. He had absolutely no pressure on him, and two straight drives he threw picks back to back plays/series. The first was a screen pass and the second was a horribly timed throw that a high school defensive back would have picked. Sorry guys, but Holtz is giving him the nod just because he stuck it out for all these years. I give Higgins credit for this, but my guess is Wilson and Higgins are on par and he is giving the 5th year senior who has stuck with our program the nod. If we start slow, look for us to pull Higgins around game 4 or 5.
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
That's all valid. He doesn't throw a good deep ball and too many picks. I remember the Southern Miss game where he drove us all the way down the field and threw a pick in the end zone. :(( But at the same time, he was 27-34 for 550 yards in the Spring Game... but I think it was against our #2 defense. I like the comparison to Kubik... I don't think Higgins is a guy who can carry us to 13 wins, but if he plays heady like Kubik, we have enough talent on the offense to move the ball consistently. We are going to have to hit some deep balls to earn respect from the defenses though.
Re: Let's TALK 2016 BULLDOG FOOTBALL!
I have a theory why Holtz has named Higgins #1. He likes it so much in Ruston, he doesn't want to leave. He knows it will be humanly impossible to turn down a lucrative offer, so he is setting himself up for a struggling 4-8 season, and thus no offers. This way he doesn't have to face a tough decision of big money vs. Ruston.
It is just a theory, but then again, some people believe in the theory of evolution! So mine isn't that preposterous.

This is gold. Totally what Holtz is doing. I mean, its all about having fun in the end right? As long as its fun for the players, then who cares how many games we win?
