From my only connection to the I-Bowl I'm hearing they are drooling over the possibility to get Fla St. Vs. Texas matchup. If no Texas then Tech or ULL if they get to 6 wins. At which point I told him if Shreveport ever wants Tech to play here again they better not take a 6-6 Sun Belch team.

Good Lord... I agree! That would be considered a move JUST to spite us and a ridiculous choice over Tech. I could see anyone qualified over us outside of a belt team.

That's what may have happened in 2012. One of our regular posters I've known Since 65 (we're really that old) says he was told a week before selection weekend in 2012 by an ibowl leader of historic significance that the bowl's strategy was to give us an ultimatum to force us to take ibowl over other options. He says the fact that little insignificant LA Tech actually had options so infuriated them that in their egomania they chose to kiss away 20,000+ ticket sales and invite Ohio rather than give us 24 hours. Poor us, we've merely won three straight bowls, $40 million stadium improvement, etc since then. Man they really showed us. How's it gone for them since then? NOW there''s a chance for them to correct their mistake and establish a new relationship that would be so good for Shreveport/Bossier sports. I'll support it and triple my normal Tech bowl ticket purchases. Will I have such an opportunity?

If that happens, all the other CUSA teams are going to be really pissed at LA Tech, especially Southern Miss (not that I care what the CUSA schools think anyway.) Right now, I think USM is our big competitor for the I-Bowl slot.

Tech haters Roy Lang and Missy Setters imply that Tech is their 4th choice behind FAU, UNT, or USM.
It's amazing that Indy Bowl people still get sympathy from many Tech fans.
Their argument seems to be about hotel rooms. Apparently ticket sales don't matter.:bomb:

North Texas and USM may travel, but I don't think FAU will. Tech fans are from all over and will get just about as many hotel rooms as these three teams - PLUS sell more tickets. Do they think all Tech fans live in within an hour and a half from Shreveport?

This is not about selling tickets or hotel rooms. It's about screwing Tech, just like they enjoyed doing in 2012.

The bowl could disappear anytime, and I wouldn’t care.

CORRRECT! This is copied from lang' s item this morning: "If North Texas and Southern Miss pass on Shreveport, look for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to make the short trip down I-20."
Thing is, our university just keeps rolling and growing and excelling here, their pissantry does nothing. Big Tech event in Bossier this week, more on the way, TONS of excitement in Shrv/Bossier about Tech, bright future. We really should NEVER have an athletic event in Shreveport again, but Tech and our high regard will soar over here anyway.
Re: Win Saturday = Independence Bowl Bid ?
I agree, that I can’t think of any reasonable explanation for going the UNT or USM route. I’ll take an inivitation to any of the schools mentioned over Tech as another snub by the Indy Bowl.
Re: Win Saturday = Independence Bowl Bid ?
Over the past three bowl seasons Louisiana Tech has gone to (and traveled very well):
Dallas
Fort Worth
New Orleans
Tech has not been to the Shreveport I-Bowl in a while. That is the "no brainer" location in the best interest of the Independence Bowl, Tech, and ESPN.

"no-brainer" describes them well, but no brains with hate for Tech makes us their 4th choice.

LOL! How ironic you used the term “no brainer.”People in Shreveport have to be some of the most ignorant I’ve ever seen when it comes to making decisions that could have had a long term positive economic impact on the area. They think they are too good for LA Tech, imagine that living in a shit hole like Shreveport.

If FSU is the opponent FAU will travel. How far would Tech fans go to play a beatable LSU on neutral field?
