Re: HOLTZ to Arkansas -- ad AD
Bielema gets $5.9 million for being fired. I don't care if someone kicks down the bathroom door while I'm on the commode to tell me.
Re: HOLTZ to Arkansas -- ad AD
Although I highly doubt this will happen, Holtz is mentioned in today's paper... http://www.nwaonline.com/news/2017/n...sports-college

Arkansas is not one of the elite SEC programs. Mullen left Moo State for another SEC school because it's not an elite SEC program either. Arkansas is a lot like Moo State, so they can't expect to be competing for the really big name coaches. Or, any hot prospects either.

Except that high school football in MS is stronger in AR.
There's a lot of money in Fayetteville, but a coach will have to recruit TX well to win there.
Re: HOLTZ to Arkansas -- ad AD
Whoa! Protests have cancelled the Shiano presser at UT. Still nothing on football scoop to confirm Fisher to A&M.
Looks like Malzahn is holding Auburn captive on his extension using Arkansas as leverage.
This won't end well for the hogs.
If I wasn't a Christian, I'd say it looks like karma.
Re: HOLTZ to Arkansas -- ad AD
I think UT has to renig on Shiano, there is a real crapstorm blowing up about that hire.

Yep. Shouldn't have gone down that road in the first place, but now is a better time to course correct.
Wonder what it will cost them.

They have reneged. I hope it costs them a fortune.
Re: HOLTZ to Arkansas -- ad AD
UT's coaching fiascos over the last few years has bound to have cost them a fortune in finances and good will. How many more of these bad judgement hires can they survive?
Is their AD mentally challenged?

Why no 2017 Coaching Carousel Thread? Did I miss it?

They are offering 4 or 5 million a year, I am sure that they can find somebody better than Holtz, like the USM coach.

Was hoping one would get started, but how could anyone keep up with the speed of this thing?
For a little while it looked like the dominoes were going too fall very quickly for about four or five days and have about twenty coaching changes. UT has now thrown a wrench in the gears and who knows what is about to happen, this is gonna look worse than conference re-alignment.

If that's your standard, just go down to the preschool and find someone who knows that seven is more than three.

I like the USM coach, but he has a ceiling also, not sure if it is any higher than Skips. You can only do so much in Arkansas, no matter what you pay(unless it is to the players), the recruiting is very difficult.

They are guaranteed the best players in a state. How many programs can say that? Plus they are only 6 hours from DFW. Bobby Petrino was winning 10 games a year there and had them ranked #5 in the nation.
