I agree that we don't want censorship, but we do want a review of what the selection criteria is for staff, review of the editorial guidelines, etc. I expect this to be handled by the TT advisor and editorial staff, not by DR getting involved. Of course, I assume that the advisor is interested in supporting the vision for the university and has taken the time to craft that into editorial guidelines.

I have not seen staff writers disparage the company for which they represent. I have never been affiliated with any organization that takes actions to support the competition. I am in Rotary and we don't extol the virtues of Kiwanis. We have members that know what Rotary is all about and because they chose to join Rotary, there is an expectation for them to further the goals of Rotary.

There is something fundamentally wrong for someone to tear down the very entity from which they are benefiting...IMO

Get a few of the students on campus who actually love tech sports to write about it on their own. I can guarantee that people who are passionate about tech sports will write much better than the rag-doll that we've been dealing with. Heck, they might even write something that I'd read.

I have held my tongue about this since I read your blog so that I could look at this more objectively. At first, I definitely had a similar reaction as the ones you have read, but Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." So, with that in mind, I think this is a great opportunity to lift you up as a person and fellow future Tech alum instead of tear you down and discourage you.

You are in a position in which you can really make a difference in the way our students view Louisiana Tech. There are GREAT things happening in our athletic department and I want to encourage you to enlighten the student body on the advances that Coach Dooley and others are making. You mentioned that you feel like Dooley is capable of improving Tech's image and rate of success, but I will tell you that it takes MUCH more than Dooley's efforts. It takes all of our efforts, including yours. Especially yours. The entire student body has access to what you have to say, and with your help in encouraging them to become more active and loyal, Tech can get back to where we were 10 years ago, and even go places we have never been.

You said that the students who support LSU and Tech are your audience, but what we want you to understand is, we are trying to discourage the support of both schools and encourage the full-fledged support of your school, and your school only. Until this happens, Tech will not be "relevant" on a national scale. This is why people are so upset; because the editor of Tech Talk sports wrote a public piece on why Tech is inferior to LSU. It is the exact opposite of the message we are trying to convey: that with student and alumni support, we don't have to be inferior.

Please know that I do not want you to stop writing or go to LSU and write for the Reveille. What we all want is for you to use your position of leadership as a platform to promote the POSITIVE things about Louisiana Tech and our athletic department, as well as get the student body jacked up about their school. Don't let these reactions stop you from writing future positive stories or blogs about the Dawgs.

I used to be an LSU/Tech supporter before college, and dude, it is much more fun to wholeheartedly support your school and your school only. Because when we are "relevant," you can say that you actually had a part in the process and the "history" instead of just wearing an old grey cap.

And by the way, no one on here is saying anything about not supporting in-state schools. That is NOT what this is about. You said you can wear your LSU stuff ALL over Louisiana Tech's campus and anyone who doesn't like it can go twist. You didn't say you are going to wear your LSU hat in support of LSU when they play Arkansas or Auburn. You didn't say you were for Grambling when they play whoever Grambling plays out of state and will don your Tiger gear. You didn't say Go ULM Beat North Texas, let me get my ULM Hawk blanket out, now did you?

You are crawfishing, methinks. You said LSU is the only school in the state with any sports that have relevance. You said you would wear your LSU garb whenever you pleased. Oh, except in the presence of a Coach. Well, why stop there? BE BOLD. BE RESOLUTE. Don't back down now in the face of negative opionion. Go on over to the TAC and wear your hat in front of Karl Malone. This little mess here on this board is not a hair on the butt of what Karl Malone will say to you.

Dear boy, go and write a blog that says you support Tech and think we are going to be on the national scene in sports soon and you think all LSU fans should support their state schools and get behind Louisiana Tech. Please. Do this. And post that blog on an LSU site and see what you get. RABID LSU fans who will tell you to go bite yourself. Another example, is a resolution sent from the Alumni Board to DR and Dooley recently, stating the Alumni believe branding Tech at Tech events is very important and requesting Tech staff wear Tech gear at official events (I know we should not have needed to do this, but that is Tech's reality and again, we want to be moving things forward so we didn't want to waste time on "why it wasn't already being required?").

Checkout the 2020 plan which really covers the landscape of academics and athletics and see where Tech is executing points on the plan.

Students wearing other gear and inappropriately using a university communication piece will become non-issues if we focus on our branding activities. If the university staff selected TT staff based on a defined criteria that included the candidate knowing and committing to furthering the university goals, this guy wouldn't be on staff. So what happens? We are all wasting our time on a symptom (including me) and not working on the positives that are the only way we can break this insidious cycle of producing graduates that are apathetic, complacent, and most importantly uninformed!

Does anyone else find it humorous that a student that is only a few years out of high school is trying to convince those of us that have been out of college and in the real world for some time that there are more Tech/lsu fans than rabid Tech fans?

Look kid, don't get upset because you got chastised by all of us. When you denigrate our school and worse yet, come onto a "rabid" Tech message board to post it like you're a nine year old showing off your new bicycle, you should expect the reaction that you received.

By the way, if you have never been to a Tech game when they announce the scores of other games and heard the roar of cheers that erupts when they announce that lsu-cks has lost, you wouldn't make such assinine statements.

My first class today there was five people wearing hats, three LSU hats, one Atlanta Braves hat and one wearing a Tech hat ... Me. It just so happens a prominent football player is in the same class, but he hasn't said anything about it.

You get the pose together come by around 9:45 and you can lynch you three tech students. Don't tell me when you are coming by on the off chance I'm wearing my LSU hat cause it would be the perfect excuse to impart the bodily harm some many of you wish for me to go through.

I had the balls to attach my name to a post, I would like the same respect please. Especially the guy that questioned my sexuality, the people that wish me bodily harm and the one that insulted my dad.

As for bringing my dad into this, very very low. As for being dumb as a brick, he graduated Tech in 1969 with a business degree, you may find it at centennial walkway under Paul Stephen Sims. After a few years in business, he decided to go back to school and obtained his Doctorate in Pharmacy at North East, now known as ULM. He must be a very, very dumb man.

Now onto contacting my superiors. Please make all electronic complaints directly to Sallie Rose Hollis and Envision@latech.edu since Mr. Hilburn does not check his email or phone messages. He is also gone from the office a lot so it will be hard to track him down, but if you can please show him your displeasure.

As for contacting Tech's coaching staff and administration. Feel free with that too. I'm sure Dooley = will love all the emails and do everything in his power to make me miserable because everyone knows it will be a good thing for an Athletic director to alienate the media, even college press, during his first year as AD.

This guy has nothing left as you noted.

His blog posting is not the real issue and I (hopefully others) am not letting this go. There has been too much investment by too many supporters to allow this situation to continue. We must demand discussion about how to get every part of Tech moving towards the same goals.

Speak guys so we get attention on this. We have an Alumni Board meeting next week and it will get discussed there.

I am a third generation Tech grad and Tech is the only school that I give money to. So can I not be an LSU fan............I really dont think that will have any relevance what so ever on my job status. You guys are beating a dead horse.

It does, however, piss me off that part of this kid's reason for liking LSU is because they are more relevant right now. He is the type of fan I despise.........So in other words, if they sucked you wouldn't be a fan????? When Tech is great in a few years, that is when you will be a true fan?

Dont tell me that you support the entire state and every school....that is a just an out for you...so you honestly care how Grambling, Nicholls, McNeese, and ULM do..no you dont cause nobody who attends Tech should give a dang about any of those schools..Also, who will you be cheering for when we play SE La at The Joe? If you support every school thats gonna be a tough day for ya....Its like Reds Better said, you are only a fan right now cause they are winning.
