Sure. My point is major universities come in all shapes and sizes. We aren't just a "small state school" anymore. That's the old Gulf States mentality that needs to be flushed. Since those ancient times we've evolved into a Tier 1 National Research University, and we compete at the highest level of athletics in all sports. There's nothing small or "mid-major" about our university's stature. Academics, athletics, research... all major.

Alright, I just want us to grow. :)

We see it generally as harassment, but the recruits see it as "social media 'love'". Like it or not, kids today derive a sense of self worth from how much "attention" they receive on Twitter and other social media.
Do y'all really think recruits choose a college based on random fans tweeting things to them?

Sadly sometime I think some kids do. Not all. Probably not even Most, but Some. Dantzler for sure. I was super high on the kid but his actions show he is not Tech material. Hope the best for the kid as he hopefully grows up and plays great every week except against us.

That problem is solvable. Some of you younger guys need to go make your way in the world, earn a crap load of money, and start donating most of it to LA Tech.

That's insane, folks. That's just pissing money away.

Win the Powerball!
problem solved.

There is no way to know. I do know they get the impression that our fans don't care and others fans do. It depends on what they are looking for. Some kids like playing in front of large crowds and like to be adored. We don't give the impression that we offer that and others do. If you had a choice, would you want to feel wanted or feel that nobody gives a crap?
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
It sure would be nice to open up this thread and see new recruits being added to our list of players. I guess SH is keeping the last 3 or 4 close to his vest. I do appreciate opening and not seeing any of our big fish decommitting. Anyway, hope we have some good surprises next week.
Re: 2016 Football Commitments
Caught up in my passion/concern for La cutbacks in education. Past few days posting education cutbacks and guess what-- front page times today--new budget "will cripple higher Ed"-- if approved we live see another 4.6 million but that's nothing compared to ULL--38million$--southern 7 million and LSU system total of 65 million. It's so bad at Northeast they already cut hiring and more cuts Athletics. ULM posted potential cutbacks of 34 employees. Mid Feb session will potentially impact Tech more than Signing day. Tax our way out?? NO. We rank dead last in Bussiness TaxClimate-- highest in nation for combined sales/state tax at 9 %. Texas- Arkansas about the same. My point is this, the future direction of our program will depend on our Alumn and fan base to understand the issue and do what they can to support our college...

. Agree with you, pretty lame assumption when you have high school coach, family, friends , recruiters and years of exposure to various programs to suddenly allow a tweeter to change your life. I associate tweeting with the Bachelor (over 4 million this week - Kardashians 1,465,000 and Pretty Little Liars , whatever that is, 1,729,000 according to today's USA. I know I am old, obsolete die hard Tech supporter but I still believe personal contract wins 99.5% time and the .5 that may committ from a friggin tweet ain't worth having.

. Not often I disagree but when I guy tells me he will give me a 4-5 year scholarship- room, board and help develop my skill set-- I assume he's invested in me-- not just tweeted me. I absolutely would feel wanted by the recruiter. Some of these guys will be only player getting offer on their team-- pretty big self confidence booster . Think it would be fair to say overwhelming majority of our fan base assume coaches no how to recruit and stroke egos

It's a different generation '65. This is the "me generation." The coaches pump their egos with tweets. Other coaches pump their egos with tweets. Other fan bases pump their egos with tweets. Some fans go nuts with it, "I will commit suicide if you don't come to X." Others just say, "Thank you, we look forward to watching you play here, you made a great decision and will love X." We are silent. I don't know if there are consequences or not. Some fans make it seem like a classy move to congratulate the player and be excited about it. A kid commits to Tech and ... crickets.

ok--I will specifically ask Coach on signing day how much social media has changed recruiting.
