I would see where Memphis wouldnt be worried about a new CUSA member having a great academic record. After all, everyone knows how much focus Memphis puts on academics. Acutally, the truth is, by academic standards, Memphis belongs in the Sunbelt!
North Texas brings nothing to CUSA and a decision by CUSA to take North Texas over Tech would spell more disastrous than when they chose UTEP. We all know how well that worked out.

Does anyone have the map to show this rookie, the placement of Ruston within the CUSA footprint? How many times have we been through this?

EXERPT FROM A POST ON ANOTHER BOARD.
7. Academics are always bannered about, but I don't think it will be a factor. Actually La Tech and NT are not far apart. Some stats from "College Stats" are retainment LT 72%, NT 74%; Graduation rate: LT 47%, NT 44%, Acceptance rate; LT 66%, NT 65%: 75 percentile ACT; LT 20 (SAT not reported), NT 21(SAT 1200) and student to faculty ratio; LT 88 to 12, NT 91 to 9, From schools sites, NT's admission standards are higher. La Tech reguires incoming freshmen to have either a 2.5/4.0 hs GPA, top quarter of class, or 23 ACT or 1050 SAT. NT automatically admits top 10% of hs class compared to LT top 25%. Next 15% at NT require 950 SAT or 20 ACT and second quarter 1050 SAT or 23 ACT (Any student would gain admission to La Tech with these scores). As far as degrees offered bachelors; NT 97, LT 82; masters; NT 101, LT 57; Doctors; NT 48, LT 9.

That womens Gym, looks like a middle school, and a check presentation for 3 million? In the corporate world, thats chump change and should actually be an embarassment. We have private donors that do that at least once a year. Just no presentation. :icon_wink:

right, cause Houston is some academic powerhouse...
we already have our "dungeons and dragons club" (Rice, Tulane, and SMU)
they do a fine job keeping the GPA up.
Re: Denver Post reporting BYU likely to stay in MWC
Average ACT of freshmen entering Tech is 23.5.

they give a million a YEAR...this was a one time payment (Memphis matched the donation) to redo the baseball stadium now called FedExPark...to go along with FedExForum...and the FedEx Institute of Technology.
Fred gives over 750k on top of that in annual personal donations...the FedEx CFO and and several VP's all give well over 250k.

Step child in terms of what you have accomplished. With the exception of basketball, the only thing anyone knows about you is that your mascot is the Blue Raiders. :icon_wink:
