I saw some mouth-breathers saying LSU-S should absorb Tech. Or that UL-M should do it. Which makes no sense.

LSUS chancellor, Larry Clark, has sent out letters to all students advising them to transfer to another school. I guess effective for the fall.

Just learned the letter was aimed at students in a specific program, not all students as was reported. It was originally reported by an LSUS student who is transferring to another school, and then excitedly reported as "ALL students" by a faculty member of another school that would stand to benefit from LSUS closing.

Sorry to get y'alls hopes up. I know how much BB&B wants LSUS to fail just so some of you can say "told ya so!" Well, it might still happen. Stay tuned.

Alright. Do you know which program the letter talked about?

I have nothing against the university, its students, nor its faculty. My beef was and is with the LSU System that continues to treat LSU Shreveport as a complete afterthought even after they released the LSU Shreveport Commitment Plan four years ago. I've believed since late 2011 that the educational needs would be better served with LSUS merging with Louisiana Tech. With the merger, a major research university would best serve the needs of the metro area instead of the area hoping that a struggling 4-year college could get some crumbs from Baton Rouge.

Well, for the students, I don't want to see any school "fail" --- but things do have a way of working themselves out. Had all those "Pilot Pride" types joined the business leaders of S/B in supporting the merger a couple of years ago, maybe they wouldn't have to send out ANY of these emails....they would have been ahead of the curve.

Dont see Tech taking over LSUS anytime soon, especially with the future expansions in Ruston. Do not think it would be smart to start investing in a satellite campus during a state recession. LSUS will continue to cut staff and programs to keep students in seats. I could see Grambling closing doors before LSUS does.

A merger would actually reduce Techs need to invest in a satellite campus; the LSUS campus is established and would be immediately functional as the Tech campus. The tuitions from students attending there would help fund operations/salaries etc, plus their would be less overhead as some support departments could be consolidated and reduced. This would allow more of the Shreveport students tuitions to be put into investment in the campus and retaining or growing the teaching staff.
