Yup, many are saying their degree says "LSU" on it. They think it's worth more than a Tech degree because of those three letters. Of course they conveniently leave off the Shreveport at the end.
I'm going to consider taking UAPB classes so I can say I go to the University of Arkansas!

Shreveport is closer to College Station (230 miles) than it is to Baton Rouge (248 miles). Why aren't these goobers yelling "Gig Em Aggies"? Never mind....rhetorical question. I know why. They are the same ones that started having Mardi Gras parades and eating boudin!

LSU-Shreveport trying to rally the troops to save their school.
LSU-S Chancellor Larry Clark invited the member of the Northwest Louisiana legislative delegation to a breakfast meeting on "Thursday, April 3rd" to discuss Glover's bill. This Thursday is April 4th.

A bunch of them do. We would go to A&M games all the time when I was a freshman at LSUS. Its very common to see Aggie gear on campus.
Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
Aggies loved coming to the I Bowl. Gambling etc.

I brought this up in this thread years ago, but I'll say it again. If you know of a corporate HR recruiter who covers the Shreveport area or has done so in the past ask them about LSU-S graduates. A great many leave the "S" off their resumes. Some know better and the omission is intentional. Others are actually clueless to the fact they don't have a degree from LSU.
The problem comes when that transcript comes in and the truth doesn't meet the expectation. An HR person for a Fortune 500 company then has to start jumping through hoops to get everything straight. It's often easier just to File 13 the resume and move on.
Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
I've heard this a few times "I graduated from LSU *pause* in Shreveport".
Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
If the LSU system is willing to unload it, we have to take it.
Otherwise ooh-la-la will. The only thing that could be possibly worse than a bunch of Shreveportians pretending they are tigers would be a bunch of 'em thinking they are cajuns

If ULL didn't, ULM would certainly jump all over it.

I agree. That was a very weak response from Clark. Clark threw his own student body under the bus when he said 1/3 of LSUS's applicants couldn't get admitted under LA Tech's more stringent admission standards. LOL! He also complained about LA Tech's cost of enrollment vs LSU-Shreveport's, and said 70% of LSUS's students have a need for financial assistance. He said most would find the additional $2,300 in tuition costs unmanageable.
Clark admitted several times that "LSU is not investing in LSUS" the way they promised they would back in 2012, but he never offered a solution. He said "the investment in higher education is lacking" in Louisiana. (That's a real news flash!)
I thought Cedric Glover did a great job with his pitch over the radio. For example, Glover talked about Shreveport-Bossier losing corporate re-locations to other cities because the S-B area has no research university offering the depth of classes in Engineering, Science, Business and Technology that are important to many companies. He contrasted LSUS --who's gone from an enrollment of 4,100 students on campus 7 years ago to only 2,500 students today, with the University of Alabama Birmingham. He said UAB's enrollment has grown from 2,000 student on campus to over 20,000 now because they manage their business differently and offer classes that local companies need and want to support.
Glover also mentioned the success that Ochsner Medical Center is now having in Shreveport after first being denied entrance into the market more than 3 years earlier. He said he thinks Shreveport would see similar success with LA Tech merging with LSUS.
Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
He did mention about the success about their online program. That student in the Philippines matters.

He did mention that.....in fact, he said it's providing much needed cash flow for LSUS. But, I see LSUS's "on-line" program remaining sustainable, regardless of who's in charge. In other words, the "on-line" program doesn't have to go away simply because LA Tech is in charge.
However, if LA Tech and LSUS don't merge, LSUS appears to be at risk of becoming a full-time, on-line diploma mill, ala University of Phoenix, etc... Especially if they keep losing on-campus students at the current rate. They'll become a business, rather than a true university. I'm not familiar with LSUS's current accreditation's...but some of those have to be at risk if things are as bad as we're hearing. But more importantly, I don't see how the on-line program helps local Shreveport businesses and the surrounding community any more than it helps someone living 500 miles away.
