Well said Sooner. Dr. Sexton is a fine human being and is probably a lot more upset about this situation than anyone else on this board.

Interestingly enough I just saw on the news where it says the guilty employee alleged that the dog had been kidnapped. If that is true, that by far constitutes jail time.

Accidents do happen and I can't imagine what this man and his family are going through right now. I'm sure he'll do everything in his power to make this as right as he possibly can.

This story sure is making the rounds. I hope our football team gets this much coverage during the season.

I agree that this was negligent on the part of the employee, but putting someone in jail would be stupid.

Amen, Sooner! The hate on this Board astounds me sometimes. This was obviously an unintentional accident. Patrick is a great guy, an outstanding vet, and has done a lot for Tech and Ruston. I know he is devastated about the dog and he let the employee go. Some people on here act like he and the employee should be crucified.

While I don't think charges will be filed. Anyone who has had any contact with Bullies knows that the smallest amount of heat can shut them down easily. This is an employee at a vets office, regardless of age, there was failure to maintain reasonable care. It would be horrible if it was just someones pet, but this was the Universities mascot and Dr. Sexton's son (the bosses kid) had a very close bond to the dog. Even more reason to take extra care, then to try and cover it up adds another layer to this.

It's an accident if the employee comes forward as soon as it happens. It is past a mistake. The employee passed that line by knowingly covering it up, and if they did destroy the body, its another log on the pile. (hopefully this was not the case)

As far as it being an 18 year old kid, our vet 1 and 2 kids here at the school I teach at (high school) know the basics of animal care (heat, cold, etc) before they are ever placed for their internships.

Why not revive that legend and make TECH XXI a rescue, there are some out there available, who knows, there may be one that is colored up just right and might just make our best TECH yet. I would love to know what this person did with Tech XX and where he hid his body. I have been told that Tech was cremated today.

This is extremly painful...I've raised two wonderful dogs over the last 22 years and not once was there neglegence of any type ! A school mascot should have the utmost respect and care, as in any pet. I'm sorry I'm not excusing this neglet. Before there's another Tech XXI, there should be the Right accomodations and the utmost care procedures before he's brought into the school system. The Air Force Falcon get's STAR like treatment, Mike the Tiger at LSU is treated like a King and has a wonderful facility. That's all I have to say for now - I need to cool off before I say something I might regret... May God bless those that choose the next Bulldog XXI and the Best facility and procedures to house him.

Here's Uncle Donald's take on it that may give you idea as to what happened.

"Some of you may know that Dr. Sexton is my nephew; I have not talked to him directly, but I suspect that it did not take him long to figure out what happened and took until today to get the kid to admit it. I feel sure it was a negligence on the part of the kid by leaving the dog alone…. and especially, for too long … very likely talking to his girlfriend … or playing some video game….huh?"
