Y'all please furnish a list of coaches who's contract was renegotiated in year 2. Year 3, maybe. Year 4 of 5 is the norm, but the point remains this whole thing is for show. Tech athletics gets nothing. Perception you say? I don't think so.

If somebody with more time cares to give you a list, they can. I think you know full well how this thing works. You may not like it, I may not like it, but it's the norm.
Whether Tech gets anything out of it remains to be seen. Let's see what happens. There will be plenty of time to complain about it once the details come out...let's pace ourselves. We have to make this complaining period last until signing day. If we blow all our steam before new years, the board will be dead.
Re: From the negotiating room
Mike Leach just signed a 5 year contract with a Pac 12 school for $450,000 per year; the same as Dykes. Tell me again why we need to pay more.

So we can show a commitment to the program and entice more donors for Q4E

Really? I am shocked that it was that low. Tulane would have payed him way more than that (if the admin wanted him). Has that number been released?

$450,000 goes whole heck of a lot further in Ruston than Washington. Not bad for a first time head coach but not only that its only his 2nd year in the contract and first winning season. I'll wait for the details.....

If I were in charge of these people wanting to give the coach an adjustment in salary, I suggest the increased attendance means a bump in compensation. . . . But I'm sure they're not using my money.:)

I would be totally fine if his base salary isn't bumped at all. Give him incentives that pay for themselves like attendance and ticket sales...bump the buy-out and be done with it.

Personally, I am happy to see the admin do something "proactive" for a change.
